Let us start helping each other out of the dark-zones. Lets enlighten ourselves.
Social Awareness- We shall rip you apart!
@gdm4u87 Hi Gaurav,

Request you to help us (the 2013-TISS aspirants) to understand the paper pattern of TISSNET.
We know, on 13th Jan, 2013 there will be a MCQ test which will be common for aspirants of all the programs.
But people here are not clear about the pattern of the paper like how many sections will be there & how many questions per section etc
like:
Quant: x no. of questions
English: y no. of questions ---things like that.
General awareness: z ques.
If u can give some idea on this regard, that will be helpful(or how was it when u wrote the exam)

A lot of discussion is going on, in this thread & going by the discussion, the confusion arises: whether quant, DI section etc will be there or not.
So request you to clear the air.

@gdm4u87 Hello Sir/Ma'am, I have applied for TISS this year. I wanna know syllabus of CET-2013. Please kindly tell me syllabus.

Having been there on the other side not very long back, I can completely understand your anxiety and apprehensions. Also, we are here to help you in all ways possible.
The thing is, as I had mentioned earlier, about the paper, we know only as much as you all know. There is little that we can help you with regarding that matter. What I would suggest is: Go through the model paper well and obtain a rough idea. That is all any aspirant can do at this stage.
Till last year, the model paper used to be the actual paper of previous year. That is, the model paper given to us was the actual paper that our seniors had attempted. So, we knew at least the break-up of questions in various sections. Even then, we could not know what would be the difficulty level or any other info. And that is what makes management entrance tests so interesting--one of the key abilities they test in a candidate is his/her ability to navigate in unfamiliar and uncertain territories.
Therefore, DO NOT EXPECT anything. The paper would be as much a surprise for you as it would be for all others, including us. All you have to do is make sure that it turns out to be a pleasant surprise

hey... did any one get a call 4m d tiss service saying dat dey r offering some course material????

From the TISS Information brochure, pg 10:
"The objective test will have questions related to Social Sensitivity; Knowledge on Contemporary issues; Analytical Ability, and Logical Reasoning."

*That puts aside questions on DI (I can't say with cent % surety but I am positively certain after looking at the sample paper; there would have been a DI question in it otherwise).
*Social Sensitivity material- puys I believe the thing is self explanatory: read issues that are related to social welfare or issues related to needy groups or about important aspects of the human society. Looking at Q1, 2, 3, 5 in Sample Paper, I hope you can get a fairly good idea of what I am saying. Rest use your common sense...

*The English preparation is on similar lines as that of other MBA exams in general.
*"Analytical Ability", I guess, covers basic Quant problems.

Still there may be a few more types of questions which the sample paper or the above cited line might not have covered, but I am certain that they should be 'handle-able'!

CET 2013 will consist of questions on the following areas:
Social Sensitivity and Knowledge of Contemporary Issues
Questions on these areas will assess candidates' sensitivity to social issues and their knowledge of contemporary developments. Besides awareness of current issues, it will also assess candidates' knowledge of social inequalities and problems facing marginal groups of the society - both local and global. The questions would thus cover a range of areas -- economy, politics, ecology, history, geography, and will include contemporary themes that affect the vulnerable groups.

Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning
Questions on these areas will test the students' ability to perform basic and intermediate level numerical/mathematical operations, and interpret ratios, percentages, graphs and diagrams. The logical reasoning questions aim to test the ability of the students to think logically and analytically.

English Language Competency
English language competency refers to the ability to understand and reason with concepts framed in words rather than numbers. It also includes verbal reasoning which requires the ability to synthesize information from text passages to answer questions drawn from the same, to analyze and recognize the relationships and patterns of relationships between parts of a sentence and between words and concepts. The test of English Language Competency consists of comprehension, sentence completion, sentence correction, analogies and antonyms.
