@Anchun thanks for your reply. It will be nice if i get any contact number of that person with 9 years of Ex......i have got call from TISS for 2013-15..... can you suggest some options for me, because i always wanted to do this course from TISS. I was shortlisted twice for the Interview in the past, 2000 and 2001, but could not make it to the final list. After that I moved on in my life only to come back again and do this course........ My concern besides getting this knowledge, is to have a job............pls throw some more light so as to make decision...

I am in a bit of dilemma . The matter is that there is a chance of mine getting into a mba institute named TISS( Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai). i had joined TCS chennai then after 1.5 yrs left that to join a PSU insurance firm. The job is very less and uninteresting, stereotypical, deglamourous to be very frank. At the same time it is hazzard and tension free as govt jobs are.My gross pay is about 38 - 39000 rupees per month after 1.5 years of service (next hike is to come in August). Even though people here are expecting a somewhat good jump when the central government wage revision comes into effect next year. In the last pay revision 5 years ago salaries rose by 7-10000 among various cadres as per the information i could collect from my senior colleagues . But joining TISS wud ask for my quiting the job. One more point that I am in a service agreement with my company. Resigning now i.e before 4 yrs of service would mean paying 3.5 lakhs. I am in a dillema about what to do? PLEASE HELP.
I can fully understand and do appreciate the dilemma you are facing. But the way you are looking at it is too narrow to make an informed choice.

A post-graduation from a premier institute is not just about placements--it's much much more than that. This might sound gyaan to you but you will realize this is true only once you join a good institute. Placements are important but certainly not the only consideration.

And to top it all, your interest in whatever you do is paramount. Do not do anything simply looking at the monetary rewards associated with it. Most of the mid-life crises I have observed have stemmed from this very mistake.

And last but not the least, it's an MA program and not an MBA program. Clarifying this because the moment you utter MBA in the interview, your chances will be close to zero :mg:
