missed by 12 marks, feels good! when u miss by a less margin, often u tend to blame urself for n no. of reasons... but when the margin is huge, u gets a feeling that u were never there in the race,, feels good, feels relax!!
How does one prepare for the

I am B E Electrical, Passed out in 1998 from MU. 2nd Class.
At present I am working in BSNL as Jr. Telecom Officer,
I have more than 10 years of experience in Exchange Working ( indoor + outdoor), Inter Exchange Working- Level II, Installation of Broad band ...
I want to change this line and work in HR ( i have interest in this field only).
At present there is no scope of Promotion.
I am now 38 years old.
wife ( A Professor in MU), 2 kids+ parents ( dependent on me)
WIth my education and my work experience will i be able to get job if i do MA ( HRM & LR) from TISS. ( how will be the job market for the person like me)
Your guidance( from the industry point of view) will be very helpful for me to decide what course to take.

is GL useless course or wat ?not even a single person has got information about this course.sry to say but where r the seniors,everyone is busy answering others but none for GL.is everyone sleeping or wat.....cant these seniors who r active on this thread contact any of the seniors from GL course or they just know the guys of their own courses....being an institute of repute i didnt expect this kind of response from its great students.........

There is one junior with almost 9 years work ex, so if u have the right reasons getting an admission is not an issue
Regarding the placements, it is quite tricky as getting shortlists with 10 years work ex is definetely gonna be tough.........
Even in Laterals companies generally ask for 3-6 years of work ex....so do consider these issues before taking a call

Dude ...taking time out and answering queries on PG is not part of course for Tissians. Appreciate that fact first. Its a tradition we (I can speak for HRM &LR; course) follow and continued by my juniors
would convey about ur doubts to folks from GL course and its upto them to come on PG and answer or not .........Be more discrete in what u write about college and Tissians.....A few students doesn't define TISS

@Anchun Keep this cool advice with you......for ur kind info.i have nowhere stated that its part of ur course or nt but as per this thread "TISS HR and other programs queries" there should be someone to guide apart frm HRM course.i have posted the comment few days back and as a responsible student and senior it's ur moral duty to guide each and every one irrespective of the course.if u don't have the info.then atleast tell that u don't know or will get the info.from somewhere.if not then plz do change the name of this thread or stop giving ur valuable advice.lastly I very well know the image of TISS and I have nowhere written anything which will spoil the image of TISS

I am in a bit of dilemma . The matter is that there is a chance of mine getting into a mba institute named TISS( Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai).
i had joined TCS chennai then after 1.5 yrs left that to join a PSU insurance firm.The job is very less and uninteresting, stereotypical, deglamourous to be very frank. At the same time it is hazzard and tension free as govt jobs are.My gross pay is about 38 - 39000 rupees per month after 1.5 years of service (next hike is to come in August). Even though people here are expecting a somewhat good jump when the central government wage revision comes into effect next year. In the last pay revision 5 years ago salaries rose by 7-10000 among various cadres as per the information i could collect from my senior colleagues .
But joining TISS wud ask for my quiting the job.

One more point that I am in a service agreement with my company. Resigning now i.e before 4 yrs of service would mean paying 3.5 lakhs.

@AvishekDas : See buddy .. All i can advise is .. firstly .. Its not abt the money .. Hv keen interest in the field of HR .. only then u shld join TISS .. secondly .. money is important .. no doubt .. Bt u will cover it eventually .. just tht ur fees would b 7.5 (4 lacs the actual fees + 3.5 lacs bond .. 
) .. which is again awesum when u consider the ROI ..
