Had selected 10:15am time slot on 28th Jan, '10. Well....after formal processes, the GD started at 11am. We were six people...it was a case study..."entry fee for public parks...grievances of regular visitors and environmentalists....etc etc....." A rather boring topic...but we came to a consensus withing 20-25 mins....Gave some 2-3 points, citing examples....so an altogether decent GD....

After that came the PI. Came to knw from the previous interviewees that it would be rather cool and calm....lasting around 15 mins....
But mine was rather hot...firing of questions
a panel of 2 people....one nice lady....and one shrewd gentleman...and it lasted around 25-30 mins....:banghead:
They asked all sorts of questions from the details i filled in the application form...so...please....read your application form and prepare for any question from that...
They even asked about my final year project....and yaaro....it was in 2008....i dont remember a thing....

So...in short...a total screw-up!!!!

Hi All,

I had my GD-PI yesterday. Good experience!

First of all, the venue - ICC, Pune - is very conveniently located and easily accessible. So people coming to Pune for the first time - not to worry. In case you're having any difficulty finding it, just ask for 'Chatuhshringi Temple'. The ICC is just a couple of blocks ahead.

A very well streamlined process with absolutely no glitches at all - credit must go to the volunteers from SCMHRD there who were very approachable and helpful. Here's a good shout to Saurabh, Rahul and the rest of you guys!

Right, let's get down to the real stuff now:

First step was getting the ID verified - they then gave me a tag with my name and batch on it. We were made to sit according to our batches.

They played a video of SCMHRD and then an interesting documentary, just to keep us occupied until it was time for the GD.

The GD was a case study - it was a quite bizarre, vague topic with quite limited scope, I thought. I don't think it's wise to give out every minute detail of the GD. It was a healthy discussion and everyone is our group contributed. I thought one guy in particular was very impressive - gave good inputs and then summarized and concluded smoothly.

We were then led to a conference hall and told to wait for out PI but my posterior had barely touched the seat when I was called for my PI.

I was surprised at the size of the room - was quite tiny. Two pleasant people were waiting for me there - a nice, bubbly lady and a quiet, observant gentleman.

I thought the PI was interesting. There were questions about my work-ex and my contributions there, a couple about why I chose a specific stream in my engineering and whether I'd like to revisit my engineering just to change to a different stream. No technical questions.

The lady was doing most of the asking but the gentleman sneaked in a few good questions. One of them put me in a tight spot - I'd flunked a subject in my 3rd year and so, my percentage had come down. He asked me to explain - did so. He also gave me a simple puzzle to solve.

The PI was really smooth and they finally asked me if I had any questions. I asked them a totally non-SCMHRD related question to which they surprisingly gave an honest and pleasant reply. The best part about the PI was the ease at which they made me feel. Once we'd started, I felt ZERO anxiety. In the end, I wanted to thank them by their names so I asked them for their names. They refused to disclose the same due to obvious reasons. In hindsight, maybe they thought I'd disclose their names outside but of course, I had no such intentions.

edit: The document verification was done after the PI. There're snacks and tea available for the hungry people 😃 . We then had to fill a feedback form and a checklist and submit them back on the ground floor, where we'd been given our tags initially.

Great experience, people. This was my first ever interview for a B-school and the experience really gives me confidence for the ones ahead.

Also, I think having a calm GD group helps so everyone can get their cards on the table.

Again, if any of the current SCMHRD students is reading this - well done ! Really helpful!

Cheers,
knifebutter

Mine was yesterday,,, Itz pretty cool out there,,no stress watsoever...
juz b cool guys... ul hav a lot of tym to do everything so dont get anxious..

all da best

Thought id share my GD/PI experience. My process was scheduled on the 28th...the entire proces took about 2 hours or so for me cause there was some delay but otherwise the actual GD/PI takes about an hour and is quick and painless!

GD: Was a case study 5 minutes to think and 20 to discuss. 5 members in my group so it was easy to get heard. I think the maximum members to a group is only 6 so no one should worry. No one was asked questions by the moderator at the end.

PI: Different panels for everyone guessing according to ur backgroud. I was primarily asked questions from my academic backgroud but i know some other ppl were simply asked the usual why mba? type of questions...i guess it varies but i must say no one needs to be worried it was not stressful.

after that document verification (basically marksheets)they glanced at the extra curricular ones but i dont think those were too imp!

offered refreshments but i didnt have those had to rush off. :)

overall the process was smooth nothing to be anxious about..hope you guys do well too...good luck!

GD Experience: Group of 6(pre-decided)..with ppl frm different parts of India
Got time to speak to all of them before the G.D! Luckily all of
them were supportive and nice! The topic was to discuss on
global warming and come to consensus on one idea which can
change the scenario! We were also showed a vid frm ''Pay It Forward"
All of us got time to speak with no one
cutting anyone!! one of us was asked to summarise(The mod
asked a girl and I dint hear tht and strted speaking! He waved
roughly at me! And I stopped immediately!)
Overall..it was a great experience! I would advise ppl to speak
to their "GD-mates" weneva u get a chance..it helps!!

PI Experience: 2 panelists! One young and one old! But both of them were
pleasant gentlemen! I was asked questions on things I
mentioned in the C.V only ! Those ppl seemed to know
everything!(I spoke in depth abt Graphics cards and one of the
guys asked me ques on tht too!)No ques on acads fr me!
Very very nice experience!!!!

The students of SCMHRD who are managing the whole process are doing a very very good job!! And the choice of place is very good too! Just be calm and have fun!
And ya..dnt fget to collect your snacks!

Hey,

Take all original certificates (both academic and extra curriculars). I have gone through the process.
Take all 10th,12th certificates and mark sheets. Graduation degree and marksheet. Experience documents (if any). And be careful of the scores that u have filled in the application form. They will calculate all the scores (10th,12th and graduation).

That's it. No xerox copies, no photographs are required!
But take them with you, just in case.

All the best! 😃

Hi All,
I attended SCMHRD exactly 2 years ago when i was a fresher and as expected i havent converted it then...but this time it was so like Deja-vu ....same place-ICC,same director and moreover i got the same moderator in my GD:grin:....

The process was streamlined to perfection and all credits to Scmhrd senior

Well For my Exp:

Extra curricular activities/Anything special about you:

Work -Exp: 15 months (IT + Education...again varied)
Date of GDPI:
29th Jan (10.45am)

GD Experience:

GD was a open topic presented in a case study format. The topic was a story presenting facts about capital punishment. We had to analyse the pros and cons of Capital Punishment and come to a consensus abt the same.
We were a group of 5 men (no ladies:lookround:)..We were given 5 mins to read the 1 page Case and 20 mins to discuss.
A dude started the topic presenting the gist of the case. Then the topic went from analysing the cons first for abt 8mins and then the pros for abt another 8/9 mins...Then the moderator told one of the fellow who didnt contributed much to speak and give his views. Then he told another person to summarise the topic.I did well in the GD,presented many points and the Grp built on my points:grin:.Then it was over and we got out after handing our scratch sheets to them.

PI Experience:

Freshers are grilled on Acads badly...and Work-ex people on their work not that badly...

There was a very young man(YM) and a Lady (middle aged-'L') in the panel and yours truly 'ME'....
L:You have a very peculiar work-ex : 4months in Education and 12 months in IT.why is that so?
ME:Gyaan...said i wanted very dynamic role and wanted direct interaction to customer...etc
L:What were your work profiles in both industry?
Me:Some more gyaan...IT-back office type,Education-more dynamic,creativity required.
L:Had u anticipated Recession?
Me:No..
L:Any thing u know abt Recession?
ME:Whole lots of Gyaan...
YM:Why the Indian industries are not that affected by Recession?
Me:Extreme Gyaan...Clients are diversified,bank-loan system of India is very rugged,People's savings in india is abt 35% of their income,so credit history is good....
YM:Ok your father is in State Govt....whr do u wannna GO?
ME:(in my mind...jyaada paisa nahin chahiye Sarkaari naukri dedo bhai:lookround:)
Nowadays Govt Sector doesnt have much jobs but PSUs are requiring young MBAs and if i get a chance to get into a PSU then its gr8..
L:Why PSU?
ME:More responsibility, can get insight of Govt regulations, more scope to learn than private sector...
YM:Which specialisation you waana go in MBA?
ME:Havn;t decided but may be Marketing....
L & YM nodded and they said that's it attaboy.(12-14 mins hardly)..see you in future (may be in their minds)....

I greeted them and came back...and i was escorted by a very pretty Scmhrd student to the document verification window where they verified and No Attested Doc required.....Then it was time for PET PUJA ...and talked with some seniors abt the culture, abt studies, lyf, and many more...

I left to ground floor and returned the Checklist with the required signs and ticks....(this is important).....

Then i came out had a coffee with a pretty lady who had finished her process and was sitting alone...aur lomdi ko chance milgay:grin:a...

Hope i make it ...i liked the Seniors and the process really well....very chilled and no stress....SCMHRD hav changed a lot in these 2 years....

Hi All,
I got SCMHRD call last year & this year had it again..Hope this is last year for me

Date of GDPI:

GD Experience:

GD was a nice topic to determine order of importance of 5 senses (Sight, Hearing, Taste, Touch & Smell)

We were a group of 3 men & 2 women ...We were given 5 mins to read the 1.5 page Case and 20 mins to discuss. I don't know why the sheet explained all 5 senses in details (which everybody knows). We had to identify 4 most important senses.....
I started the discussion by presenting the case.
I continued for almost 2 minutes...nobody was ready to interrupt me...I was eagerly waiting for somebody to come in, finally after 2 long minutes, a pretty lady sitting next to me made another point...(Hush....)
Then we continued our discussion to come to consensus about sight as first & taste as last priority..We continued the discussion in order to prioritize rest.....
Moderator indicated us when 5 min were remaining, then we tried to finalize the order with little consensus
Finally moderators asked two pretty ladies to give their order.
Overall it was good

Document verification was done after that & then we were waiting for PI

PI Experience:

There was a young man(YM) and a young Lady (Pretty Young -'YL') in the panel and 'ME'....
L:So You are from Pune so you seem to be quite comfortable
ME:Yes mam..........
L:I am curious about Save Traffic movement that you are participating in(Looking at resume).so can you tell us something about it?
Me:Gyaan...(She looked very worried about traffic in Pune hence she was very happy to listen to me)
L:But they(Save Traffic Movement) are very reluctant to give those stickers to all, why?
Me:again some more gyaan
L:Tell us something about Aids awareness campaign that you have volunteered in (again resume bassed)
ME:Blah bhah blah...
YM:You have done engineering in Electronics so do you remember it now?
Me:Politely replied that I brushed up my technical knowledge for this interview
YM:Ok, now tell me about your work at IBM
ME:Gyaan again
YM: How do you estimate your work?
ME:Talked about Function points (he asked me if we are still using those techniques)blah blah.............
YM: What is SCM? SDL?
ME: I stuck little bit but then continued based on YM's input
YL: You have 3+ years of workex, so did you try last year
ME:blah blah
YL: So what has changed in this one year?
ME:Talked about communication skills, other team activities
YL & YM: Ok, thank you,ATB
ME: Thanks a lot

Then i came out & had snacks n coffee

Excellent management
Hats off to Scmhrd senior

Yesterday, I was eagerly waiting for new posts on experiences thread but was disappointed so decided to make it for others at earliest. Hope this help you
All the best !!!

2009 Season
CALLS-SCMHRD, SIBM-B
Rejects-IIFT, XAT
Awaiting Calls:- JMET(AIR=2215)slight hope, SP Jain(IT)

I am just back from my GD/PI.
I had GD/PI slot at 9:30 .
The overall experience was very good.
I really like this thing abt Symbiosis people that they take initiatives to keep u chill.

GD:We had to prioritize 3 renewable sources of energy and come to a consensus.I feel we have done it quite well.I was more of a traffic police but then gave some points towards the end.It was good that there were few disagreement otherwise, it would have become boring.

PI:One old man (looked like some person from army background:lookround:)
And there was another ever-smiling lady....I wanted to answer just to her but still looked at the other guy also while answering

I was asked about the meaning of my name-Answered
Then few questions from my CV
Then the guy started quizzing me on my work profile-Answered all of them
Also later he asked about my aspirations.I answered them to his satisfaction(I hope so)

Finally I was asked if I had any question.I asked them about some of college events.

That was it.
Over all a pleasant experience.
Thanks to all co-coordinators.
