My GDPI experience at Welingkar

I had my GDPI at We, Bangalore on 24/05 at 10:45AM. I reached the location by 9:30AM. The helpdesk at the entrance verified the admit card and guided to the waiting room. At the waiting room, we were given a kit, containing snacks, refreshment, scribble pad & a pencil. We realized why snacks were provided, only at the later stage. They collected the admit card (with photo) and photo copy of score card & work ex. docs. The entire process took about 7hrs and you are not allowed to move out (even to cafeteria) till then. Though my slot was 10:45, I was allowed to go along with the 10:15 batch.

We were given a card with the form no., and checklist of things to be done (GD,PI1,PI2,PT). Each item will be marked as done once you complete them.

Groups of 12 were formed and our group was sent for Psychometric Test. It comprises of 63 questions to be answered in 20 mins. The test basically aimed at understanding whats your personality so you are required to answer what hits your mind first. Most of them completed the test within the time given.

We had to wait about 15mins for the next round to begin. GD topic was India's Population: Is it an Asset or Liability, everyone spoke quite well though only a couple of them took most of the time. There was no interference from the panel and we finished with our conclusion before the time (20 mins) and left the room.

Ours was an EDR batch and all of us had 2 interviews. The call for interview was at random (maybe based on the scores). We had to wait for almost 3hrs to have our interviews done and this was the worst part of it.

The questions in the interviews were very generic and non-technical. But be prepared for any questions on whatever you have mentioned in your form. One of our batch guy mentioned about a certificate in some maths competition and he was asked couple of 12th STD maths problems.

For me, both the interviews went on fine since they were questions like:
* Why did you quit your job?
* What do you think about eBiz?
* You are a Comp. Sci., so why prefer BD more than eBiz?
* What do you think that an MBA will provide?
* Why MBA now?
* Why not a career progress in IT without MBA? (I was with TCS)
* What you have learnt from your 4yrs of work?
and so on

Couple of people from our batch had the creativity test where they were shown a coconut shell and asked to describe 10 unique things about it.

The 2 interviews were back-to-back and by 4:30 PM the process got over. We submitted the card and left the place.

Also, there was a presentation before the entire process began. The presentation wasn't presented well but most of the Q&As; were answered clearly.

From the presentation, I understand that WE has a hell lot of extra currics going on at campus and academics was just a little part of it. The entire presentation was just bragging about the social initiatives but not much was discussed in the lines of academics.

Hey there, both the interviews are of the same nature. In fact, they interview candidates interchangeably like P1 takes my interview for eBiz & P2 takes interview for eBiz for another guy then they just switch & now P2 takes BD interview for me & P1 takes BD interview for the same other guy.

Actually there is no need for 2 PIs but maybe WE wants to have a double check on candidates it seems.

The questions I have put is from both PIs. They do ask about the reason to apply to eBiz & BD and also about your preference number to each of them but not on why you applied for all of them.

For e.g. my preference is 1.PDGM, Mum 2.BD Mumbai 3.eBiz Mumbai, so the question was since I am a IT guy, eBiz should be before BD, why wasn't it? And I had to tell them why...

These questions are already those you filled in the form and you just need to add something more to it and make it impressive.

Do not worry about any interview. Applying for all courses is never a negative thing. If at all they ask you why you have applied for all of them? tell them that you want to be at WE regardless of the course. Moreover these courses differ only if few degrees and not much.

this is smthin confusing... actually i hv applied for pgdm mum. n ebiz mum. so will thr be any creativity test.... as things are nt clear regarding tht(hw many PIs)....... cn u plz help me in this case.

Hey i read smthng s d guys who opted BD had 2go thru 2PIs 1st ws d normal n 2nd was creativity test wherein they were asked to list down 10uniqe things they culd list from the shown pic of a coconut shell, any1 facing such creativity test,mite b with the people who opted for BD. Please let us know. Thanx in advance.

Hi Puys!!!

I had my interview at WE school on 24/04/10 9.00 am batch at bangalore.

I reached the centre by 8.45 am. Then I was asked to wait in the waiting room and i was given a bag, which contained water bottle, refreshments, writing pad and a pencil. After some 20 min, may be at 9.10 am 9 am batch was called for registration. (both E and EDR batches; seniors explained that E stands for students who applied only for PGDM and e-biz whereas EDR stands for students who applied for morethan 2 of the following: PGDM, BD, Retail, e-biz). After the registration is finished we were asked to wait there itself. We waited for more than 20 min after which we were taken to the presentation hall. It was not a great presentation, but Q&A; session was nice, even some alumni and Mr, Salunke, dean of the college was presesent. Then we were taken to the GD room. A 3 member panel was sitting there. They explained us that we need to complete the GD before 20 min. The topic given to us was a repeat of the last year's : What if each corporate is given a state?

After the GD, we were asked to wait for 10 min. SO after 10 min we were taken into a comp lab, where we were asked to take Psycometric test. 63 que in 20 min, most of us finished in 10 min only. it's quite normal test, about your personality, dats it. one question will be asked in diff ways at diff times. so be sure to answer correctly, or else it wil catch you.

Again we were asked to wait for some more time before the interviews were taken. May b aftr some 15 min, my no. came. (its a random calling i guess) I was taken into a small room where two panelists were sitting.

They are very friendly, so no need to take tension.

they make u feel comfortable, so dont worry...

Y mba at dis point of tym, y not at later stages after 2 more yrs of workex?? (now i already hav 20 months woek-ex)
Y not from a more reputed insti or an abroad univ??
Y dont U go into auto sector, make some exp and then get into b skool.
How can u enter the auto field? (by what means), i said innovation, newer technology etc etc. in appli i have written abt my interests in automobile.
They asked what innovation, can u explain??
they hav asked me some more questoins, but i dont remember.

They ask u questions based on ur application. They do pick some points from what u answer and ask questions based on that.. so basically u can drive ur interview... all the best..

I felt that those ppl are satisfied vth my answers. but donno wats gonna happen...

Now after waitin for 10 more min they called me for PI-2, donno wats that interiew gonna be..but went inside and sat... there were two panelists,, veri elderly persons.... one is from BD and the other is from Retail. (The retail person is from a hospital- donno wat doctor's doing in a retail business.. god... )

90 % of my 35 min inteview was taken by the BD guy, as i said i am not interested in retail... wat kinda questions they ask re baap... all stupid questions...

Give 5 uses of match box... they shuld not be regular??
Wat if u r a king kong?? wat u'll do??
Wat if lord krishna appears to u?? wat will u ask??
wat if u r left on jupiter and asked to survive for a week. wat will u take vth U??? :drinking:
and some more questions which i dont remember.... then retails person asked me to design a car show room, how i'll differentiate with the existing ones....

all d questions r not questions... detailed discussions on all d questions,, if u say some thing... they say not like dat some thing else... or no u or wrong,, am not askin abt dat... actuallly its not any stress interview.. but a couple of times i felt like stress interview... but dont worry guys... they r not goin to put u on stress,,,, the way they made discussions i felt like dat.. half of my creative interview was superb... they were very happy.. but the other half screwed up completely...

FInally to say.... everything i did very good except second half of my creative interview (PI-2)

In the entire process seniors were very helpful... complete process took 4 hrs to complete for me..

Hi,

Had my GD/PI on 25th April, 9:00am, WE School, Bangalore:grin:

Reached the venue around 8:40am, though had a bit of difficulty finding the place.

As soon as I reached, I was guided by the seniors to a watiting hall kind. A kit consisting of notepad, pencil and refreshments were given. Your admit card + score card will then be stapled and given to you.

Once you are ready, you will be taken for registration. In the registration process, you will be divided into groups of 'E' and 'EDR'. Each batch consists of max 12 people. You will have to stick to your batch throughout the process.

You will also be given a card, consisting of your batch name and a number written at the back. Don't lose this at any cost!

First round GD:

Should foreign universities be allowed in India.
Went on smoothly. No fish market type.

Next PI:

Two young supercool people. Nice innovative and logical questions. Managed to answer most of them. Made me feel comfortable.

Next Psychometric test:

Just to determine what kind of person you are. Just be calm and annswer it.

P.S : One thing that I noted was the Infrastructure was supercool. And people around are very helpfull and sweet. You can even get transportation details from ppl outside, not a problem. So no need get panicky!

Hello Puys.....heres my GD/PI experience
Date & Venue:25th April,Bangalore
Batch:9 am (Group E)

1.Registration:At the reception WE seniors wud register you.Take your admit card and will giv u a coloured CARD which will have ur FORM no,group and process name which will be ticked as and when u complete it.
2.PPT on WE school:same old PPT which all B scools show.they told current batch placement AVG was 6.6lacs( i think it includes all PGDM,PGDM ebiz,Retail and business design and mumbai-bang both)
3.GD:My topic was:Foreign University in India:Boon or too much soon
4.PI:two panelists were ther one lady and one gentleman.
Questions are:
1.Tell me about urself
2.Tell me abt project u work on
3.Y MBA after 6 yrs of tech education and 2 yrs of Techie job
4.Y dont u do job for 2 more years and then try MBA
5.Wat it takes to be a successful entrepreneur
6.Any academic,professional or private failure in ur life
7.Hobbies
8.States travelled which all places and y
9.Y MBA for becoming successful entrepreneur....(he took eg of Ambani ,Mittal and all)
10.If all will be entrepreneurs then who will work for India Inc
11.How do u impement any task(told me to xplain detail procedure)

I can recollect only these ques as ther wer many more....

Overall took only 1.5 hrs for the whole process(I opted for PGDM only)...
was bak at home at 11 in the morning.........lol.....

Hello friends..
took the GD-PI today.....EDR group.......
@ KOLKATA.....

Over all a great experience.....

Students conducted everything, they were very helpful, friendly, and the guided us all throught...

FIRST STEP:
Presentation about the institute n its programs n all the other infos....
by the students again.

Seconed STEP:
GD- topic: 3G communication technology in India and its impact what will it be?
I took the initiative to start the discussion n then started the FISH market.........every one shouted.......no conclusion drawn.......
I spoke 4-5 times but I am not sure how many times I was noticed by the panel.

THIRD STEP:
PI 1: general questions abut work ex, grad. level questions, why mba?, why I love kolkata?, If you don't get selcted here what will u do, future plan, what u want form the institute?.

FOURTH STEP:
PI 2: mostly questions on work ex,
my role, job description, If CHATUR was to be removed from the movie 3 IDIOTS then would I have been this much popular?,
Picture perception ( I was shown a picture of beach where few ladies were washing clothes......what I thought of),
I was told to read the first page of THE TELEGRAPH n few questions were asked on that......like, could u recall 4 faces in the paper?, tell us a particular news.....n like....

FIFTH STEP:
Psychometric Test....
Online test much better that the Prometric interface.....very smooth...n easy....63 questions...in 20 mins..........be true to your self......do not bluff....

Hi everyone! I had my gd/pi/pt on 25th April, Bangalore Campus... So here's my experience.....( EDR Group)

I had the 1:30 pm slot but I reached by 11:40am as everyone said the campus is too far & all that.. It was slightly confusing to reach the campus as Electronic City is nearly shut on Sundays & the dumb watchmen of various offices, guide you to stupid colleges if u make the mistake of asking them about Welingkars..

So We School the signboard said... Amazing Campus, full of glasses & nice elevation.. Surrounded by Corporates all over.. As u enter a senior asks for the CAT score card & We school admit card & work ex letter... Then u are escorted on the green carpet to the waiting area( a nice small audi sort of with two projectors playing some motivational videos etc). Inside the seniors guide u with of simple instructions..A presentation of We School by the seniors.. Full mugged up presentation.. Then a ques-ans round, students asked ques totally revolving around the Placements

Meanwhile u get a refreshment kit with some snacks & drinks(non-alcoholic:lookround:) Then u are divided among EDR & DR Groups & made to form a queue & u get a card which shows ur registration no. & group name & the four rounds of the admission process on which u need to get a tick mark after completion of every step..

1st Step: The much hyped Psychometric test: Very simple, questions like what is your fav subject, what would u like to be a pilot or lawyer & stuff like that... 20 mins 63 ques.. I am sure everyone would finish it in a mere 10-11 mins..

After this Wait for nearly 15 mins

2nd Step: The GD: 9 people only, Topic: 5 qualities a leader should have.. lol... I took the opportunity to initiate... One of the best GDs of my life.. The panel of two people, one lady & one a young professional, congratulated us for the excellent GD & said this seemed like a perfect discussion..

After this wait for nearly 30 mins

3rd Step: PI ROUND-1 : Basic questions, like why MBA, books u read, work ex related, general discussions about various topics.. Very cool PI.. Got in with a smile, got out with a bigger one... Had a blast..:grin:

After this again wait for nearly 45 mins

4th Step: PI ROUND-2: More Course specific questions, for me was moreover Retail ques as am a Retail Professional.. It can depend on ur interest on subject(E-BIZ or BIZ-DESIGN or RETAIL).. So try & drift ur PI in that stream itself.... Some weird questions too... But overall chilled out!! :)

Some imp points I want to mention:

# The seniors are the sweetest here in We School, very friendly & helpful... They escort u everywhere, guide u with anything u want.. Nice people, Suit Clad young guys & girls looked like the managers of tomorrow!!

# We School Bangalore, will soon be the next big thing.. It is simply exquisite.. The way its made, the feel, the students, placements, etc.. Excellent, I am in love with WE School...

# The Admission procedure is quite simple, no stress & stuff.. Plz be relaxed & be there with a calm mind.. If u want to prepare just read the essays & answers u had written in the application form..

#The competition is stiff, moreover like a lottery, lots of guys who unexpectedly got percentiles in nineties were there, who dint fill any other forms.. Lots of guys with amazing profiles too... :lookround:

Anyways, ATB Everyone!! Give it ur best shot..

hey puys, i've attended the gd/pi round at blore on 24th april.
1st a small presentation of the coll.. (yawn!!)
then the psychometric test. looks simple but u need to be careful while clicking your answers.

then the gd round. no time given aftr the topic was announced. u jus have to shoot out your points.

i was called for the PI-2 1st. panel of 2. asked me why i wanted to do mba. he didnt like my answer. the disc went for lik 30mins. finally, he said- " i'd be convinced if u said that u have some innovations and you want to be an entrepreneur etc.." i was shocked. what kinda interviewer would say that he wants routine/bookish answers??!!! seriously.. i didnt expect such bookish ppl to interview me.

then the PI-1. an old man. asked me why i didnt write anythin in the "achievements in the past 5 yrs" column in my application.
me: i was busy wit job and college in the past 5 yrs.
he: u hadnt played any sport in ur college?
me: yes, but i played for fun. not in the national or state level.
he: u cud've written it here na.
me: i thot v were supposed to write ACHIEVEMENTS there. (damn it!! i shudve checked the meanin of ACHIEVEMENTS in the dict before sending the app)
he: he got offended and said u dnt look like a manager to me.(i am a manager in a s/w company)

i started to think... "what? managers dnt luk lik normal humans? damn it!!"

i dunno abt other panels but the panels i got are very bad. 1 guy wants bookish answers n the other talks non sense. if the coll has ppl who cnt judge a person prop how can they judge the market and teach us?? i lost respect for the college itself.

overall it was an horrible experience but made gud frnds in the process.
