Medical Distrubution Camp Mumbai - 05-02-2005, 06:32 PM

Today , we had the distribution camp at the same place as before , Mhasa . This time only 3 people turned up ( Geetu , Ashish n Moi ) and it was a good thing as 3 were sufficient cause everything was so well organised we really didnt have to do much

This was basically a follow up from the last camp whereby according to patients profile they recieved hand n leg callipers , walking helpers , wheel chairs and tricycles all made by NASEOH students for which they were paid which is great .

Today , the bigwigs of rotaract were there and we ended up talking with them the kind of projects they are doing and there might be potential for us pagals to look into that , they have a lot of things going on currently and in the future .

As for the camp , we helped around with distribution of the above mentioned things and helped the people by explaining them how to use the wheel chairs and tricycles and to see them and their families smile and happy was priceless

And lot of discussion and praise was given
by the rotaract and naseoh heads to pagalguy.com and allwin and all of us for taking such kind of inititatives and doing something on the ground here and other places in India which came as a shock to them as they considered Indian youth not doing enough CS and then to hear n meet us which raised their hopes . All in all another succesful camp

PS : To our surprise , we got felicitated with flowers n bouquets by the villagers and the mhasa people and made to feel very special on the occasion and told us to continue with such camps in the future , geetu thankfully took the bouquets home as us carrying it in the train would be difficult , thanks geetu

Awesome work you folks. Its so nice that all of you followed up with the distribution! Its always surprising to see how well they treat us. I am sure all us make so much more difference in our own ways.

I hope more people join us in our activities so that we can sensitize more people to the cause and 'touch' more lives through our activities

hmm.. puneet has covered most of the stuff..! thank u puneet.. this was my first camp.. so this is a kinda first impressions post...

i left home really early...! cos puneet had given me dhamki if i am not on time they wud leave me in Kalyan!!! ..(thanks Simba n Tabrez.. for the directions n tips..) i reached on time.!! only puneet was there.. NASEOH ppl were missin n so was r very own sleepy head.. ashish!! in a lil while evryone was there... n we were ready to leave.. in a MaXX!! (not a trax..accd to ashish!) (oh lets not forget the cutting chai n stone cold pav vadas !!! )

the drive was really good .. took us an hour or lil less to reach Mhasa.. we went to d skool.. i was seeing the skool for the first time.. cos ashish n puneet hv been here b4.. it was a pleasant surprise.. a good buiilding.. very well painted!! (better than my skool!! ) classes brimmin wid students.. since it was a workin day.. n a really cool princi.. he tried to make us all comfortable.. we noticed the girl to boy ratio was HIGH!! (way to go girls! ) it wasnt like how i wud perceive a village skool to be.. the girls had purple salwar kameezes as uniforms.. !! nice color for a uniform.. amazingly bright!

all three of us.. sat n chatted for a while cos we were early.. n the program was supposed to begin at 11:30.. around 11:30 sudha mam n the rotary hotshots arrived.. sudha mam introduced us all.. n they were very pleased .. n a lil surprised to meet all of us PAGALGUYS!! jus like puneet said.. they found the idea of youth takin active part in community service all on their own very surprisin.. n commendable.. ALL THANKS TO U PG!!!!

the skool committee had made a stage n evrything.. wid sudha mam n the rotarians liting the diya.. n makin small speeches.. the students sang two marathi songs.. one i think was a welcome song.. the second one i am not sure of!! then they started the distribution event.. they told us to distribute the tri wheelers n the wheel chairs..

it was an amzin experience.. wont call it fun.. cos it wasnt fun watching them come n take the wheel chairs.. or callipers.. but the smiles were heartening.. after the distribution was over.. we were felicitated.. that was the part i found highly embarrassin.. cos i hadnt done anything at all n these ppl were thanking me.. ! there is soo much i can do.. so much we can all do.. ! one of the rotarians told us.. the handicaps were mainly due to mishandling at birth.. it was a helpless feelin to see them... but i guess it jus strengthens my resolve to do something .. something which in a small way can make a difference..

then jus like that it was time to go back.. we were tired... but there were ppl who had walks 10- 20 kms jus to rcv there crutchs or wheel chair.. ! n they were gonna walk bac home .. i jus hope they all use the stuff they rcvd today properly.. n it helps them..

oh n bac to us THREE MUSKETEERS as sudha mam called us.. we were bac in the Maxx.. discussing inane stuff.. n how i had damaged the seat by jus sittin.. !!! imagine that!! ultimately wen i reached home.. i had six bouquets wid me.. (3 from the skool committee plus 3 from NASEOH) n it seemed like i was comin from a college rose day!! ppl stared at me..

all in all dis camp was an unforgettable experience... n i hope i can attend many more of them.. n last but not the least.. let me thank ashish n puneet for bearing wid me.. u guys were great company!!!!

P.S : this post is gonna seem disjointed.. thats bcos typin it the second time.. ! the first one got deleted!!

What a post

PG, yeah, thank you da, CS is something some of us might not have launched into at this stage had it not for the example set by you, simba, subbu and the likes. For all the work/resources you have put into the forum, this might be a small source of satisfaction to you.

Coming tomorrow of course

Well, events have already been put up very nicely by puneet & geetu...
Probably i can add some observations to it...

1. Uncle didn't appear this time...

2. Met rotarians & they were really happy to c our initiative. They also talked abt some of the upcoming initiatives like installation of boring pumps in palghar area (27th feb), upgradation of PC lab at NASEOH (by 31st Mar) to P-IV's & a new comp lab wud b opened in a village with the PCs currently in NASEOH.

3. Felicitation by NASEOH & the school, & all 3 of us were really embarassed.

4. journey was fun & i got to know puneet (the entrepreneur ) n geetu more... Had a lot of masti during the MaXX ride with discussion varying from rel infocom (remem last time ), puneet's MICA call, MY SPJ int, our office environ, PG's picnic plan... aur bhi bahut kuch... (like who's goin to carry the flowers & why the same seat did not crack whn puneet was sitting on it )

in the end, geetu helped us all by taking the flowers ... carrying those in the train wud have been very difficult... Sincere txs to geetu for this...

Sorry for being late... But great to see so much enthusiasm!! Geets, I am sure u felt embarrased for receiving the flowers, but then again, as I told ya, assume that u accepted the flowers for all of us, the PG junta!! Also, it need not be only for what u guys did on that day, it could be for the efforts u have put in for NASEOH through out. See, thats a better way to look at things!!

Puneet, Geetu & Ashish, great reports ... Next camp, we sure will do better seva & end up feeling even more better!!

Cheers
Simba
