Guys, just spoke with Javed. Confirmed attendees for Sunday's camp are:

PG
Ashish &
Me.

I think Ashish will directly join the volunteers in Thane.Me will catch up with another set of volunteers in Chembur. And PG will come directly head towards Palgar (not sure whether I got the name right!) from Borivli.

Note - Nikhil i spoke to Javed about you but he was sorry that he might not be able to accomodate u in the Sumo they have already planned on. He wondered if you could directly catch up with Allwin & head to that place. Confirm on that pls.

Cheers

The camp at Dr MLD Trust Hospital, Palghar - 28-02-2005, 02:30 PM

The wait is over & requests granted....

There was not much to do this time... hence not much to write..

Allwin, Nikhil & I made it to the camp. Unfortunately, sowmya had to cancel her plans due to ill health.

The camp was organised in a Dr M.L. Dawale Charitable Trust Hospital & it was very well organised.

I, alongwith NASEOH staff & one intern, reached there at 9:30 AM [it was 2.5 hr journey from thane]. We were lucky as NAEOH has arranged one Qualis each from thane & chembur for the long-trip to palghar & the journey was very comfortable, which included a mini-breakfast session at a highway hotel at manor.

Hospital staff had already started the registration work & they had ample staf to direct people to the relevant rooms[physiotherapy/mesurement/councelling].

After having breakfast & visiting few of the hospital facilities, the doctors (2 orthopaedic surgeons & 3 interns) started examining the patients at 11:00 AM.

It was past 11:00 AM & many have asked about Allwin (Mr Kishore from rotract & NASEOH people) & i was also feeling out of place... no work to do & no PG junta to gossip with...i was missing the PG junta & was cursing my cell for showing 'limited service'.
And than from the back someone called my name,,, it was PG & nikhil... [thanks god they came... thts wht i thougt] ... Neway, they too were in the hospital since 9:30 & were strolling outside when i was enjoying the breakfast n adrak-tea alongwith the doctors & NASEOH people

Since there was not much to do [except occasionaly directing patients to the doctors], the 3 of us sat together & started talking about what other things can we do... a very nice idea about explorin non-conventional resources of energy for rural areas was fwded to us by Mr Balasubhranayam. Also, i shared a msg from one of the persons Mr Palani Thyagarajan in my company who is working with 'VINIMAY' - an NGO which educates under privileged children. Mr Thyagu was very impressed with the work we do & want to share their experience as well as talk about 'vinimay' to us. Earliest sunday when he could give 2 hrs to us is 27th Mar... or 2nd mar (wednesday) [junta pour in ur views :whatthat: ]

Well, as there was not much to do in the camp, PG & nikhil decided to say good bye.

Finally the camp finished at 3:00 & we [myself & NASEOH staff] left palghar at 4:00 after a mast-mast lunch ...

Regards,
Ashish

psst: still wondering what the 2 were doing outside [thts wht they said] when they cud have very well asked any hospital staff abt NASEOH/Mr Shetty. Any guesses... PG/Nikhil post in ur exps... Nikhil. what happened to the kidnapping plot... lights plz

& puneet.. how was MICA int buddy?? & geetu/wayne how was CET ... Simba/PG.... ISB?? seems a lot of treats to come in the coming weeks...

damn !! God knows wat happens to the post when u type and then use the wrong mouse gesture to go back to a previous page . Anyways, like ashish said not much work there - those guys had got about people to do abt everything. I guess it would've been a pretty much a waste of time + us getting in everyone's way if talks about solar panels and all that hadn;t started. Overall, all three of us were too busy picking each other's brains about two or three topic some of which ashish has mentioned. Anyways first the trip to the place. me and PG were to meet at Borivili by 8 ish and both of us reached there by 7:40 ( This is a SPECIFIC mention to prove that not me but two of our esteemed moderators were responsible for arriving late for the Murbad camp) Pg told me to meet him on platform 5 so i was under the impression that he had both the tickets to Palghar. Needless to say, I travelled from Borivili to Palghar ticketless We got this really old-fashioned cute looking train from Virar to Palghar. decently comfy. Caught a rick from there to the hospital . then went to the canteen (first stop there) - a joint effort by me and Allwyn to hammer down a two-egg omlette and two misal pav's followed. We actually kept coming back to the place set up for the camp but didn't see anyone so we wud go back somewhere else for a place to sit . Secondly, due to an absolute lack of conn to ashish's or javed sir's phone, we weren't able to contact them - anyways, the rest of it is as ashish put it. However, we me and PG decided to skip lunch and make a move. Bad mistake ! that place was so deserted and the sun shone so brightly, we were like huffing and puffing like 5 minutes into the walk. No autos anywhere in the vicinity, even a few cool-looking three wheeler mini0-buses were packed. So i guess we walked like 15 mins ( felt like 15 hours ) before we managed to hail an auto - then we downed a massive lunch included 3 or 4 lassis. then back on a hell-hole train to andheri and then home sweet hostel - anyways, an eventful day but i honestly believe much more could have been accomplished(in terms of actual community service) if we were at Naseoh tho' - but then again pretty nice experience and lotsa and lotsa gyaan
That's it from my side
