Today's English coverage...

The joy of english... kaka = chacha = mama = etc = UNCLE

And so for Aunt.

Then we went to good manners in speech (look who's teaching )
Please, Pardon, Allow me, Excuse me that sort.

Acted out some dialogues printed out.

Also.. a note on the apostrophe. Its and It's. Madam and Ma'am.

You haven't lived life till you've heard Simba reading Hindi

And the Computer coverage:

1. What is a network?
2. What is the internet.
3. How do you connect to the Internet?
4. What is a modem?
5. Usernames/passwords.
6. ISP.
7. Why did Wayne's parents name him Wayne.

Teachers : erudite & wayne for batch 1.
yours' truly and wayne for batch 2.

By the way will someone answer the 7th question!!!!!!!!

And finally ,no it wasn't really part of the portion covered on Sunday.

Oh yes, we've asked them to read newspapers. English of course. Wouldnt hurt if they tried to read atleast the stuff they understood and appreciated, and otherwise knew about, say the lastest cricket match, or a movie.

It would be fun watching their vocab grow . Guys in the english class, remember the smartest guy there ... who came up with "eticat" (etiquette) as a synonym for manners ??

With the number of Wayne's scoring against Arsenal these days.........that's acually a plausible answer

Waiting for others to chip in (Just Kidding )

Hey guys,

Me from Borivali , and have been planning and missing visit to Naseoh for the last 2-3 weeks now...and troubling Wayne and Allwin too,in the meantime !! Sorry guys! Have been caught up in some junk work for my capitalists bosses...etc.
Guys , there must be loads like me who do care to involve, but for some reason or other are not able to take the weekly trip to Chembur.
Can we have some other role, something that we can do....that involves maybe just one or two trips..u know kind of backroom work for all the active participants of the program.
Do let me know.PM me if you think of something.
I could like definitely search for and come up with something on the net for the class...like some educative games, material etc..whatever...

Hope to make it this sunday.gawd but it takes me ages to get down there!
Catch ya
Prasun.

Prasun, Nice to hear from you. I am sure there are a lot of people who would like to involve themselves but may not be able to put a 'trip' to Chembur - Pal, u make it sound like a far off village But I understand ur predicament. Actually, what we do is something what we ourselves design. Right now, I am working on weekly English syllabus. And others are helping with the teaching part. Geetu has been working on the Computer notes etc.

So, as u see, if u are interested, u can think of something that will assist these handicapped people. We wanted to come out with newsletters for these people but right now, we have our hands full. See, if u can take that idea forward and brainstorm the possibilities of a NASEOH newsletter, focussing on the kinda careers these people can look at, some small time stories etc etc. See, the possibilities are endless....

Let us know...
Cheers
Simba

hey mumbai junta,

sorry for butting in....but this being the syllabus thread, was wondering if I could get some info on your teaching techniques which might help us here in Chennai
Dunno about your end, but the students here do attend some sort of a primary school during the week and so the last thing we want to do is to have another classroom environment on Sunday too...
So we were looking at more interactive teaching plans...the best we did so far was some role plays involving some basic conversations but we need to think ahead...any ideas on keeping the interest from waning?...maybe we could brainstorm a bit here....
