gr8 dude... u can join me next sunday & we can take a rick from ghatkopar station together. This way u don't even have to worry about the route to NASEOH.
We start classes at NASEOH ~3:30 PM so try to reach ghatkopar by 3:00-3:10. It's another 10 mins from station.

Hey Appy

Guess you got Prasun's post wrong......I think he was mad at himself at not being able to make it to NASEOH and I don't think that emoticon was directed at your post ..............although it definetly was a bit senti

Cheers,

LOL appy.. U sure are funny!!!!!!! And if the above is true, I dont see either of u making it to NASEOH then...

Anyways, we need to do some brain-storm sessions to see how much more we can help the guys. See, last week, there were 4 people who had come to class only for English. Though we did not do a complete English class, we sure discussed a few issues.

In the 4 guys, 3 of them have been taken to work in a call-centre, mostly back-office work. They really had no clue about the work etc & what are the 'shifts' in call centre... what is call centre... where do the customers come from etc etc. So, I spent most of the time explaining what is what & what was expected outta them. Also, told them that if they ever wanna think about their careers, they better get their English in place. This made me realise that their General awareness is pretty poor.. How can we help???

Also, about half hour, I gave some gyan.. Ahem but I guess they needed it. I dont think they have anybody who can tell them that they can achieve everything they can dream of. I started talking to them & slowly they opened up about the fear they feel when they try to speak in English etc. They all could do with some ego-lifting... How can we help????

Do u think the above 2 can be adressed in the news-letters????

genaral awareness can only get better if they start reading.....which i doubt they do...wt i understand is that they need to be made aware of the different careers right??on the last page of internet basics geetu n me did mention a few careers related to internet but coz of time constrints couldnt go further...
a few things tht can be done by us...can b

1.>look for various opportunities for naseoh sudents in various sectors devide the careers among us and make detailed description salary work growth everything and either email them or xerox and distribute..
2.>hv a 5 minute talk ever sunday abt a new career
3.>give them information like net resources and magazines and mayb donate the ones which we dont use to them...
4.>since most of us hv access to internet collect as mny relevant articles and circulate among them

what do you guy say??

Sorry buddy. All the 3 in one person wud b difficult. However,
tall = vish (bet if u can find anyone taller)
dark = allwin
handsome = ofcourse me...

If ur ready for a ride... we may consider sacrificing one day classes...

On a serious note, u may take a rick from ghatkopar station (E) to "postal colony, Chembur" ... shud cost u arnd ~25/-... (At the square junction, take the flyover (don't turn right) & than a right turn at the end of flyover... NASEOH is at the end of the lane.)

Simba(referring to ur post), i too have been feeling the same.

Infact, last time when i was telling them how to search jobs thru naukari.com, there was only one girl [diksha] who had a email id & had a fair idea of how to check emails(seems she had attended one of the classes). Others were just aware of the word "email" (It reminded me of our initial classes 9 months back).
Anyway, i went ahead talking about naukari.com & how to use their service. The students were really excited when they heard "job thru internet & email". However, when i asked diksha abt her qualification (need to fill in the form), she answered "10th fail & don't want to study anymore" [this is one thing that we need to address. We have to make them aware that education is very imp ... wondering how long will tht take]. after this, when i tried to search for 10th pass jobs... cud not find any... [this is another area that need to be tackled].

At the end of the class, i felt all my efforts have gone for a toss bcoz diksha is never going to get a job thru naukari.com.

i feel we are talking abt things that some of these people are unable to digest or don't have the basic skills which are required before they can grasp wht we are sharing with them.

One way wud be to segregate the batches depending on their educational level. Rather than all of us coming on sunday, some can come on saturday (i volunteer) & teach.
So we can have batches of students based on wht they want to learn
1. English
2. Accountancy (some students asked for it)
3. Internet
4. GK classes & introduction to some of the succesful indians e.g. Dhirubhai, Sunil Mittal, et al...
5. .....

This will lead to more interaction with the students. Even if only 5 students are coming in each of these classes, i believe it wud b better than having 30, half of whom cannot understand what we are talking.

what say junta...

yeah...the idea sounds good.........rather pretty gud.....wat say simba...we can try this out.bt then it sounds a little divide n rule thingi...its better to hav a mixed class so that they can learn frm us as well as each other...mba funda..lol...seriously...i dnt thing segregation wud help them much.
