To educate as many underprivileged children as possible
Modus Operandi
•Beginning by taking responsibility of entire education of 10 slums children (These children live in slums adjacent to symbiosis boys hostel)
•Sustaining the efforts so that they can complete their education :-
–Over the years
(Two stages- Beginning by putting them in school
- Sustaining so that children can complete their education right up till M.B.A./M.Tech etc.)
•An NGO is being established
( in progress; we have applied to charitable commissioner of Pune for establishment of a trust)
•An account has been opened in S.B.I., D-Hostel branch , Symbiosis Hostel, Pune
(Right now it’s a savings account but once NGO gets established, a current account would be opened. Bank being in D-hostel, account is accessible to everyone)
•Bank statements are being made public.
(A scanned copy of invoice of every expense is put up on Dataserver; which is accessible to all students of SIIB; we will put these invoices and receipts on orkut community)
•Two committees have been formed
–Operations
(There are 7 members with proper representation from Div-A, Div-B & ABM. It takes care of administration part of initiative. Members would be on rotation basis. We will also have members from outside SIIB)
–Teaching the children in evenings
(Has started from 4/4/07 with 2 hours of teaching of English, Maths & Hindi.Classes are taken by SIIB students in room no. 501 from 7 pm to 9 pm every evening. Responsibility keeps shifting with a new group of students teaching every week)
•Passing the baton to forthcoming batches
(it has already started; on
www.PaGaLGuY.com; by informing the coming SIIB, batch of 2007-09 about the initiative. Response from students has been encouraging)
•Keep contributing after passing out
(Our batch would keep contributing with 3 current members being permanent members and every student making monetary contribution)
•Spreading it over to entire Symbiosis family
( we have spoken to SCIT & SCMHRD and their students will be involved from coming session. Then, we will spread to other institutes, e.g. SIMS, SIBM etc, of symbiosis family)
Application
•Two schools identified
–K. M. Khinwasra Eng. Med. School near Dangya Chowk
–Smt. Karmavati Eng. Med. High school
•Admission fee( one time payment)
–3100 & 2500 resp.
•Annual fee
–2000 & 2300 resp
•Commuting
–By bus ( in case of K. M. School)
–300/student/mnth
•Books and clothes
–Approx. 1800/student
•Funds would keep accumulating
–Requirement more at later stages of education
–In case, family moves out of Pune, hostel accommodation will have to be provided
–(we have spoken to families of children and they would stay in current location for atleast next 2-3 years. Incase, they have to move out of city, they are saying that they will rent a room for kids, but if we have funds, we will provide them hostel )
Helping hands

–Time investment (teaching children every evening)
–Rs. 50/month ( a nominal amount which is hardly 1-2 % of our monthly expenses at SIC)

(Sir will be contributing a sum of Rs. 5000/- at admission stage & will keep making a contribution every month. He will also let us use infrastructure in terms children playing in SIC campus & watching movies in SIC auditorium, etc.)
Status
•Students of Batch of 2006-08 have contributed a sum of Rs. 12800/-
•Teaching has begun from 4-4-07
(Two hours of teaching every evening. After that, the children play games like cricket, volley-ball, basket-ball etc. in SIC campus)
•Taking help of a Chartered Accountant & an advocate for establishing a charitable trust, “Prayatna”- “An initiative for social change”.

•For admissions of 10 children; which have to be completed in month of may, 2006; we need a sum of Rs. 31000/- at beginning. Your contribution will really help.
