Re: Community Services In Pune - 10-03-2006, 05:31 PM

Welcome aboard Zong! Join us @ the CS meet.

This week's CS meeting is at 5 pm on Sunday @ the Barista on FC road!, since I don't see too replies about the location (Just like last time, except 1 hour earlier)

For people who would be attending the meet, the first time around!

Please feel free to join us. You don't need to post messages on the thread asking if you can come, or if you are late. We would be glad to see new people joining us

We will be sitting at a table inside the Barista. We will leave a message with the service guys at the counter. Just ask them where the PG CS meet is being held. PM me for further details.

@ Nishant,
I like most of the places on your list . However at this meet why don't we take a vote on where we should meet next. The only reason I'm keeping it at the same place and same time is caus this was the place and time most convinient to the folks! I'm not a huge fan of the Barista personally, but they allow us to rearrange their furniture.

Re: Pune CS meet No 2 - 13-03-2006, 02:47 PM

Just thought of updating the folks here about the activities the Pune CS group has been upto over the weekend

On Saturday, Sonika and I visited 2 NGOs (Hermian Gmeiner in the Shivajinagar slums, parallel to the railway station and CYDA on Ghole road). After a few hours spent with these 2 NGOs, we were suitably impressed by the activities being carried out by them and chose not to visit the 3rd NGO (ISCP on Yerwada rd)

On Sunday evening, had the 2nd Pune CS meet @ Barista on FC road (the location of the meet will definitely change soon).

We had 4 new people join us (Arjun, Harold, Parth and Mrs Zong), in addition to couple of the older PG CS folks from the first meeting (Nishant, Sonika)

Details of our discussions @ the meet included the activities we could do with either of these NGOs.

It has tentatively been decided to work with CYDA, and towards that end CYDA would be making a presentation to us on Sun morning (11am tentative time) about the activities they undertake, and how we could get involved.

We could also help Hermian Gneiner in an auxillary manner, and scope of activites that we could get involved with there were also discussed.

We also had a lot of fun discussions surrounding

1. The name that we should give our group
2. The location of our next meeting

and towards that end, we are gonna see a lotta discussion on this thread

For more details, you would have had to actually be present at the meet

Cheers!

Hmmm...

Seem to have missed quite a lot. Sorry, have been unable to get thru to the Pune coordinators till now. No issues, there's a meeting on Sunday the 19th of the national children's course coordinators. Will get some masala out then.

BTW, nice idea of giving the group a name. Though I'd prefer to keep it simple, and go for PG CS Pune Chapter, here's my contri:

Metta, or Maitri whose meaning encompasses friendliness, amity, goodwill & kindliness among others. The first word is in Pali, and the other is the Sanskrit equivalent.

Hey!
It was really great meeting you guys..

And about the name..I feel Patang goes of well for the group and its activities...Meeting you guys I really felt we all individually resemble free n merry souls flying in the sky of life and as a group coming together to share our joy with others..and somehow like few other names does not have a very serious connotation attched to it..well thats just my interpretation..

Also it is not very common as some of the others..I like EHSAAS as well..

. However, I can try to be more mature, and get to a point where I can appreciate the beauty of those 2 words. And if I had to pick one of those 2 words, it would be Ehsas

Coming out of the shell :satisfie: , got some updates from Binoy (you have been very instrumental in this fella and yes not to forget sonika, gayathri, nikhil et al ) but curious to know the details, I guess Binoy I would bother you sometime this week. Feels great to see the progress here.

One more thing are you'll interested in meeting with Mrs Paranjpe of Door Step School. She too was out of Pune for a week since we had requested her for an appointment I thought we could just listen to her views.

Nevertheless the news on CYDA front is quite optimistic. Looking forward to this weekend
