Model UN Gen Assembly-Hyd-Oct 8th - Successfully Completed :D - 05-09-2004, 10:29 PM

Hey Guys!

Had a meeting with MVF folks today: Mrs Uma and Mr Bapu Raw.

Theres gonna be a Mock UN General Assembly on 8-Oct. There will be a UN observer n all that!

They want a total of 100 speakers for it. Speakers can be from School, Junior College or College. Each speaker will represent 1 Developing Country. So in all we will have "virtual representation" of 100 countries. They have to spk abt the Child Labor problem in the country they are representing.

They want out help in conducting that. They want us to conduct elocution compititions in schools and pick out the 100 speakers! * * *

Very Big task! *

And we also discussed a few other things which i will post abt tom. My keyboard is giving me probs, so shall limit it to this today.

edit: title change

Hey Guys,

One small dev happened in the mid week: Divya Disha (another NGO in the field of Child Labor) will be taking care of the schools.

So we will have to take care of only the Colleges. So we are targetting abt 75 speakers now.

We decided upon a lil more than 35 collges that we r gonna be visiting. And have decided who will take care of which college.

We shud be starting to visit the colleges from saturday. Lets c how the response is...

hey ppl,
its been an hr or so that i m bac from the meeting.. was catching on some of my office work as i had to literally run away from my office for the meeting..

coming back.. the meeting was attended by quite a no of ppl, helix folks, us n some frnds from JNTU..(nadi's frnds)... the discussion revolved around the point of selecting the participants for the mock-UN assembly event.. Since the selection of children (9,10 classes) was being taken care of by an org called Divya Disha, we primarily had to take care of the other colleges in the city.. we basically went around identifying the person/s who would be meeting the principal of the insti to get the nominations..We were to carry a MVF letter head with the subject matter on it b4 goin to the princis' After this was done we were discussing a bit about the awareness campaign that we needed to help in (MVF wanted to pitch in specifically in some areas like getting the housewives to talk about this issue and may be get them into some sort of 30 min prog on TV). As was the case, we had variegated thoughts.. we planned to discuss more of this on saturday..

well i leave the other part of the story to Uday/subbu..

better do some work now..
