I think you have done very good effort to make people ware about anti smoking. Smoking is certainly a very killing habit. If you are a smoker you would realize the worth of my words. There are many options available in the market to quit smoking such as nicotine gums, inhalers and medicines like chantix, champix and zyban. Apart from these support measures what really is needed is the will power and self control. You more information about chantix at http://www.chantixhome.com

i guess that mere discussion on forum will never lead to what even Jackal has in his mind.
At the last result matters.
I appreciate everone who is on this thread. Atleast people like you all care for such stuff. But let do instead of caring alone. Lets do a campaign, any activity against it. Lets make a community and work outdoor on sundays. What you people say?

Hi mate..

Dhuaan chhanta khula gagan mera, nayi dagar naya safar mera.. !

Maintaining the essence of thread, I guess, you've been thinking of this Anti Smoking thing seriously. Despites, the complexities in making out of any campaign kinda thing, the solution is still interesting. But, It has to be localized and can take some overhauling measures. Indeed, e.g. College level, a team of 10 people, making out their action plans every weekends, need to be too active. So, channeling and functioning of such campaign should have the "inspire-re-inspire" strategy to come up with. We can have a short-term but strict and dedicated NGO, though i believe there are many.

P.S. Even, I had tried smoking twice, and thanks to my "good" and "awesome" friends who made me quit.

It 's an awesome thread.Government has taken many steps one of them
is printing of various signs like "crab" for dipicting CANCER on cigg.
packets.
We can eradicate this problem only if we start from lower level i.e may
be from our family members, frnd circle etc.so keep this thread & its
spirit alive.All the best.

Re: Anti Smoking Campaign..!! - 23-07-2008, 07:55 PM

well.. it is a gud initiative.. but who wud come here and read.. those who read.. do they care.. but yes.. if even one person is benefitted then it serves the purpose of the thread.. and am sure many wud be benefitted.. if we talk about smoking here.. i wud share some points.. cigarette smokers are generally educated.. no offences to anybody.. so educating them about the hazards is easy.. but the smoking market is dominated by beedi smokers..

there are 850 billion beedis smoked every year.. beedi account for 77% of smoked tobbaco market.. so u can very well see hw much employment is generated by it..

these are mostly unskilled workers.. the beedi smokers have to be educated about the hazards..

Also, we should also have to look at these workers and factories producing beedis and cigarettes.. they should be provide alternate job opportunities..

so there is a long way to go.. since the initiative has been taken, so the benefits wud obviously come in the near future.. so not only thru the thread but start educating the people around u..

and am sure with such a long post even if one is benefitted out of it am happy to have spread the word and helped in the anti-smoking campaign..

thanxx..

Hi Varnicat,

It's not that men have forgotten this line its just that they tend to take it in lighter way...its like this its been so long since this line has been there that they tend to get to take it for granted...like part of normal routine, most of us read the road signs like "drive slow","drinking kills..but who gives a damn...everythn goes...!!

On a serious note:The thing that doesn't help antismoking campaign are:

1) The Kind of Macho Man Image Attached with smoking.(Makes for a gud marketin case study.)

2) Easy Availability of Smoke.(Take a look around for yourselves, buildings come later while, cigaratte shops come early..)

3)Peer Pressure(Take one for me yar...and then he is one of the gang..!)

4) Less Incentive to leave smoking,No immediate health effects,it takes it time to show up.

Thanks,

Hai Ankur,
I did not wanted to hurt anbody's ego. There's a fact that a girl or a women
plays a very important role in a men's life.I hope you agree??
Being s girl i would never want my father,my brother,my frend or my relative
to smoke. The thing which i can do is just ask them to refrain from smoking and
i would request the whole female community to please join this anti-smoking
campaign and help in eradicating this huge problem.

Thankyou.

It may be good enough, if you make at least 5 people around you to be aware of the facts! And you save 5 lives!
My 1.75 cents!

Most of you must have seen that B-Tex ad coming now a days on television. What it says.. "Ye laachar hain, aap nahi" [Monkeys keep itching]. It will be bit sardonic, but then, we don't see any such ads in relation to "Smokers". Not that, it doesn't suit here in our concern. It's that, the marketing and publicizing is done in such a way, that people don't see the bad part and the line "STATUARY WARNING: CIGARETTE SMOKING IS INJURIOUS FOR HEALTH." And people read it, no backlashes, and surprisingly smirk over it and say, it won't matter me much if i take one or two or 7 a day.

I am amazed to see this, how people keep neglecting this. The only valuable information or thing which comes with the cigarette packaging is that statuary warning thing and rest all is money invested and lost in smoke!
