Okie guys.....here's the info on the International Conference. We require inputs on various fronts....before that, a brief background to the conference... It is being organized by MV Foundation at Hyderabad from November 3-5th. An estimated 2000 Indian volunteers, including various other national NGOs along with close to 300 odd international delegates are expected to attend the conference. International Invitees include trade union representatives, International NGOs, friends of MVF(that's NGOs n Govt reps from a few countries) and quite a few Eurpoean Parliament members.And plans are also afoot in bringing some "real" topshots as chief guests to the conference
okie...so how can PaGaLGuY.com folks contribute?? the following shall give u a fair idea of the line of activity that we could take up:
1) Organize competitions in schools: the folks at mvf are looking at organizing debates, essay writing competitions, etc at some of the top schools in the twin cities as a way of increasing awareness on the scourge of child labor....and what better way to spread the message than by getting it to the minds of the kids in city schools.....a few colleges might also be in the list of places where events need to be held.... This mr.venkat reddy,coordinator at mvf, wanted us to handle completely...as in we designing the entire thing, plan it out and execute it.....so what do we need?? for starters, VOLUNTEERS, and then ideas
2)Come up with a wacky slogan, as in attention-grabbing, for the conference.....in case ye folks remember the World Social Forum at Mumbai some time back, they had a tag line " another world is possible". So something that conveys the core of the conference succinctly is wanted, ASAP.
3)In case any of ye ppl interested in creating any small posters/handouts with child labor abolition as the theme, you could very well do that and send it across to either me/uday/pratyusha. We shall hand it over to MVF...
Quite few more avenues might turn up once we get a much more clearer pic during this sunday's meet... in case you are from hyderabad, please do get in touch with me, or uday(cool_astronomer) or pratyusha(pratsy) along with ur contact number... There's a meeting scheduled for this sunday, 8th August at MVF's office in Marredpally from 1100-1300 hrs (tentatively). So in case you are unable to post back for any reason, you could just follow the schedule of the meeting and drop in directly. we most probably might be going for a field trip too this saturday in order to finalize the details of the english training program for the volunteers. so in case, you interested in contributing to HCS, you could very well join us...and believe me, the trip works as a great sensitizer
I believe, except for the organizing events in schools part, all ye folks across India can contribute....lookin forward to hearing from all you folks.....and let's make no mistake about it folks...this is a great opportunity for us folks from the forum to get involved with something that is huge....
