Lets keep 3:30. So that we can actually start by 4:00/4:15 PM... (lets hope it doesn't rain this time :-))

Kanti, i think its a good idea to start without the ppts (without a projector it wud be difficult )... However, we can prepare a few post-class assignments for them (which they have to finish before the next class) & put them on a site (may be angelfire). We will then ask them to download the file, solve the Qs & keep it on their PC as a word doc.

what say others !!!

ok , since we are talking about a basic internet refresher course , lets keep it simple for them and simple for us also . we could just explain to them what the internet is all about , how useful it can be for them , basic surfing and take things from there . as i understand , some of them can send emails and surf the net , we could work accordingly with them in groups . also since this is the first interaction for us , i feel we need to establish good rapport with them and make them feel friendly and comfortable ... so better get to know them also and then we can start the course

PS : nice to see tabrez and others back with us and us increasing in numbers slowly. finally things are moving on the right track

Re: The Moombhai League - Community Service - 15-06-2004, 12:27 PM

Back after a long sabbatical.

Will be there next sunday.

btw I have some material which can be used to introduce people to the net.

Its actuallly the material which Aptech uses in its corporate training course for pople new to computers, major chunk in it is about MS office but it has got some chapters on the net, just introductory stuff and how to create sites using Office tools etc.

Will that do?

Yup, me too managed to find some material for Introducing people to the net, MS Office and the likes......All explained in detail and that too in a easy to understand manner. Will get that next Sunday . I think for a start such books should be useful.

Greato,

Can anyone upload softcopies of materials to the forum ? We all need to take a look. Sajiv, the Aptech materials sound good enough, but if you have a soft copy of the same, it would be good as all of us can check the material out firsthand and plan a class accordingly.

Once we have the materials, do we need to arrange for handouts ? Since classes are held once a week , what some material to distribute to them ? The last couple of sheets could be a quiz et al... What say ?
