Here is an initiative that gives us an opportunity to be part of the Micro Finance revolution happening in the world. We can be an investor by contributing/ giving loan of as low as Rs 500 to those who are looking for funds to set up small enterprises like tea shops, buy stitching machines, set up agarbathi business etc.

We are expected to get back the invested sum after the loan duration, with a small interest (There is also the option to contributing the interest to Rang De for supporting its operations). So if you would like to contribute to an endeavor that supports people in the learning process of how to fish rather than providing a fish, remember Rang De.

Rang De has already disbursed Rs 21,56,000 in less than a year, thereby positivey affecting the life of 332 borrowers. The repayment rate has been 100%.

Hmm...Interesting....Appears to be a Kiva focussed exclusively on India. I've been considering contributing to Kiva for a while...Anyone around that has done already? I am aware that there are a few other micro-finance initiatives that promise higher interests and stuff, however, for me I am looking at it from a purely non-profit pov. Any heads up?

u cud also go for sponsoring school fees of poor children and help them in buying books. also could organise medical camps for poor and destitude.
