Of the above, b and c are of interest and are something which I feel can be sustained over the years. Sure, food - shelter - we can go into them once a while if and when the proper cause arises. Even blood banks , if a group member collates proper information, we guys may actually donate blood once a month. Rather than calling it community service, I would prefer it fall under a regular occurance. Just 30 mins of your time.

What say Junta ?
the mentioned options are really the most sustainable but isnt e something tht really requires awareness , not any major environmental revolution but general awareness about small things we can help.

this wld hardly take any time from neone , but people just need to be aware of whr they can approach on seeing snakes being beaten to death or a big old tree being felled or those many many rickshaws tht run on kerosene spewing smoke etc etc n ne othr small things we can help ............. y only look at humans???
small things mght make a difference cos however educated pepl r , some amount of awareness is necessary here ........

hey shraddha id love to join the conf too .......

luv

Higlights of the meet today.[/align:0e24ae7699]

Hey folks, our Bangalore community-service oriented meet went on as planned. Infact better then what was planned.

Eight of us met at Baristas, M.G. Road, 4.pm today. - Urs truly, CATAMANIAC, Pixie, Topgun, FalseFace, torquoise, priamrules and Arjun.

We initially discussed abt the feasibility of different programs... since the Bangalore stay of most of us who met was dependant upon the final calls, we decided to start with a short-term program. More details l8r.

However, we got into act very soon. We visited a orphanage called "Sneha" where about 61 children of all ages were residing. We had a chat with the head sister there abt the place, thier history etc.

Some action that happened today:
1) We just couldn't come out doing nothing today. So, as a starter, as an appetizer , we got some 30 odd packets of biscuits, some toffees etc and distributed to those children.
2) We l8r met at a park nearby and discussed the whole nine yards of our future course of axn.

Calling all Bangalore junta who missed this meet, who want to do sth, who are doing sth, who have no thoughts abt these things, and any and every PGite residing in bangalore to support us. 'They' need us.

Me kinda tired... more details l8r.

Unofficial minutes of the Meet [/highlight:c8fb6f377a]
To say our goodbyes to each other for the day all of us assembled once again at 7:45 in the evening outside the building that has a landmark right in front of it with a height of about two feet .It reads Langford Gardens and points the direction to go to Langford Gardens. The building in itself is not too far from being a garden.Cos it houses about 61 orphans in the age range of 3-14 year olds. All eight of us(and hopefully many more to join us) would rather go to the garden called Sneha Nilaya again and again than visit any other garden .
Having followed up with fellow Bangoloreans through PMs,mails ,SMSs and calls I must say I was a lil proud to see eight of us turn up for the meet. All of us firstly got around an oval table at Barista's keen on listening and telling each as to what needs to be done.Like minded people with like minded dreams and ideas. We talked about longevity of the idea that we were about to pursue, the feasibility and the identity factor that all of us are keen to retain. The eight of us FalseFace,Govar,Priamrules,pixie#22,turqoise,topgu n, Arjun and yours truly decided on an Orphanage called SnehaNilaya that is run under the auspices of Franciscan Sisters of Charity to take our baptismal footsteps .In another ten minutes we were at the designated place. Before a sister could come up to us we saw kids playing around. I could see one of us was a bit overwhelmed at the sight of about 3 kids running around without a care in the world . It dint take a genius to realise that all of us in our hearts said a lil prayer to the Almighty thanking Him for planning our lucky stars in a way that we werent one among the kids running and playing around there. They were jovial and sanguine prolly unmidful of the fact that unlike any of us they dint have a Mom or a Dad to ask gifts to.I had never been to an orphanage before like Govar and both of us were happy to be there just watching them around .
Thereafter we had a talk with Sr. Maria for nearly half an hour who is one of the sisters who is in charge of the institution. We talked about their beginning, their sources of finance, their future needs and more importantly how we could contribute. We were told about 30 of the children need to go to school this year. And they require funds for the same.Great !!! Here' s an oppurtunity. We started jotting down all that the kids needed from sharpeners to notebooks.Allrity... the consensus was this year each of those 30 odd kids going to school from June on the first day of school will have everything they need to go to school funded by PAGALGUYS BANGALORE! Sr. Maria was glad to acknowledge us and recognised the identity of PAGALGUYS BANGALORE. Right after that we guys went out and bought some packs of biscuits and toffees for the entire bunch.Turqoise ,Arjun and Priamrules did the distribution and at their age had the privilege of being thanked in unison by all those 61 kids along with the tag of Uncle and Aunty . It could have been something that anyone could have done.Nothing significant but for us they were the first steps in what all of us want to be an unending marathon
We have decided to meet next Sunday and get the necesary stationery for them . Shradha will post the details related to what we need to get for them .We also have a rough estimate of the budget which we can post but after a small consultation with PG .
Lovely Bangaloreans !!!
The issue of sustainability is something that all of us are aware of .Atleast 4 of us are definitely leaving the city by June.We need to have more people. Cant tell you how glad all of us felt when a couple of guys in the group decided to pool in a certain amount inspite of the fact that they are not working. We need more numbers to come in for the people who are leaving the city. Its not about funds alone.Effort is what matters. We have even bigger plans for the future. So do keep an eye on this thread!!
For the moment though hats off to Shradha,Sachin Rahul,Arjun,Mansoor Rashmi and Govar for making this possible!!
You people seriously ROCK!!!
P.S Hey Sachin I have fulfilled my resposnsibility so I guess along with you guys I tango too!
