Hey Shameek,
Looks like you did catch the train

Thats an excellent idea.We thot of doing it in B'lore too. A suggestion that I cud give you with regard to this is instead of visiting colonies you guys cud prolly pick up an apartment block.Such a locality easily gives access to aroung 400 households within a radius of less than half a km.Since you are from B'lore something like the National Games Village is what I am talking about .

Off the record: It was great meeting you and Subbu .For you people to come down to B'lore for a meet goes to show how much you people belong to the Forum.I am no one telling this to people like Subbu who have been around since the early days but the talk that we had on Saturday evening also made me realise that we can carry forward this CS initiative inspite of whatever roadblocks we might face in the future .
Cheers and All the very best for your efforts !!

Good idea, Priam. Collecting old one sided paper shouldnt be too difficult, atleast for those of us who are working. Heck, I had tons of one sided paper at home!

Just went thro the entire thread, and realised that my first post detailing all the things we discussed with MVF had already been posted before. Sorry guys! :(

Catch ya all in da eve.

Re: Hyderabad Community Service - 19-05-2004, 02:51 PM

Dudes and Dudettes,

Some of us met up yest.

The primary area of focus was

1. Newsletter
2. Field trip
3. Clothes/comics/news papers/one sided paper collection drive

We were thinking of undertaking a field trip this weekend. Shameek will be speaking to the MVF folks reg this today evening.

Following are some the things we can do with the kids when we go:

1. Take choclates or sweets for the kids. There are abt 200 kids in one camp.
2. Play football/cricket etc.
3. Story Telling
4. Take a Small stereo with karaoke (and mic ofcourse ), and get the kids to sing using that. Also we can take some popular telugu movie songs and ask them to dance on them. Good idea Omkar!
5. Some small games like Pass the parcel, pass the secret etc.
6. Hygiene quiz.
7. Take a guitar, and play it for the kids. Guitarists, pleej volunteer!

Reg the Clothes etc collection drive:

1. We will be collecting Old Clothes, Comics and One side used papers.
2. We can also collect old newspapers, sell them and use the funds for buying something for the kids. Suggestions invited.
3. Thinking of restricting ourselves to Krishna Nagar, Yellareddy guda, Srinanagr Colony and Begumpet. Basically densely populated areas.
4. Shamkeek will be speaking to Mr Arvind at MVF to let him know abt this. So that incase somebody wants to call up MVF and verify, they can vouch for the authenticity.

As of now, only 3-4 ppl have volunteered for the trip. Dont rememebr who all... :(

We might be going for the collection drive also this weekend, depending if we have enough ppl left over in the city (apart from the ones gng for the field trip).

Hope I've put down everything we discussed yest.

For the details of NL, plz chk the NL thread. Deepti will be posting the details.
