@neetusid: i am from west delhi...thats why i'm finding it inconvenient to travel all the way to laxmi nagar (east delhi) to volunteer with Pratham.
Please let me know if you are aware of any NGOs active in west delhi...

I and a couple of frnds are thinking about starting an NGO. We organised a peace meet for our martyrs n hv carried out "safai abhiyaans" and are planning to go ahead with things like, each one, plant one, each one, teach one. The only aim we have is, of a better India. It was quite disheartening, that every time we guys carried out such a campaign, only a handful of ppl turned up. Posts like this revives my belief dat ppl still care for each other. Its a great thing, what u guys are planning.. count me in for any future endeavor.

Anywayz, with NCR, NGO won't be a problem. There are loads for every issue.

count me in for the community service thingi too. BTW I guess we are simply posting and not taking any action. I'm sure we all have different interests when comes to community service. So why don't we start forming groups based on what line of community service we wanna contribute?

A post after a real long time! I was a part of the old Community Service initiative that sadly faded away. Here is how we did that - I mean, initiated.

A few of the interested folks met and discussed what we wanted to do and narrowed down to the sector - education/children since we all agreed, we could contribute there. Also, PG Community Service initiatives in other cities at that time were related to this sector in someway. CAF (Charities Aids Foundation) is an organization that validates NGOs and provides them support thru volunteers and funding. CAF was kind enough to provide us their database of NGOs around NCR. We got down to Udayan care from that DB based on a few criteria like - the location, work, etc.

I still have that DB. If anyone of you want some information from this DB or otherwise, please feel free to get in touch. All the best - hoping to see some action soon!
