So simply going by the divisibility by 9 rule, we may not get the correct answer.

Hope u are getting what I'm trying to say
The question ain't right.

according to the question the couple has started the journey from lucknow.

so it will be something like L____B____P

now anywhere in between in Mrs. Sinha asks how far we have to go, and Mr. replies that its "Half as far as the distance from Buxer to here".

that means Patna is in between Buxer and Lucknow.
but this is a contradiction, so the answer must be none of these

u got that Quant book?
or anyone else does?
lets check & verify..
yes!!
its is true ..u can get the answer without looking at the answers..if one satisfies y do we need to look on the other option(NONE OF DESE)..and in dis question dere is no such number figure given to get the answer.....

no I don't have that book unfortunately...
And the question clearly states "The distance between patna and lucknow is:"
If it was like " The distance between patna and lucknow can be:" then 450 would have been perfect I guess...

Problem statement and the option are somewhat ambiguous, imo.

I think you misunderstood the question....

its like L______B______Q_______P

when the question is asked, they are somewhere in between Buxor and Pata, we call it Q...
so distance covered from Buxor to Q is double the distance from Q to Patna..

Somwhere betwween Buxer and Lucknow Mrs asks "How far we hav to go?", Mr. replies "Half as far as the distance from Buxer to here." Dist between Patna and Lucknow is.

ok..
solution:

Lucknow = L
Patna = P
Buxor = B
Where question is asked = Q
from the information given,
we can say
LB:BP = 1:2
BQ:QP = 2:1

therefore,
LB : BQ : QP = 3 : 4 : 2

so the total distance must be a multiple of 9..
since from 750 km, 600 km, 450 km
only 450 is divisible by 9

hence, answer is C)450 km
Why not option no 4?

My answer is d) because I don't think this question is right. It doesn't make sense. How can a person travel from A to B, and when asked how far he has travelled, say that he travelled half the distance between A and B????? Aren't the statements in this question similar?
