oops i got excited and forgot about sum as 18 and 27

see. first check for numbers having sum of digits = 9

0 + 9 = 9000 and 3330
3+6 = 3222 and 2223, 6111 and 1116

Now for 18:

0 + 18 = 6660
3+ 15 = 3555 & 5553
6+12 = 6444 and 4446
9 + 9 = 3339 and 9333

now for 27 =

8883, 3888, 7776, 6777, 9990,9666,6669.

hence equal to 20. check for a + b =9 or 18 or 27 where a or b is divisible by 3

ans:34

pls elaborate the steps
et her sons be A, B, C in descending order of age.

Given - A:B = 4:3
B:C = 2:3

therefore, A:B:C = 4:6:9

let total chocolates be x.

(6/23)x = 12 ---- No. of chocolates with B

x= 46----> A=16 , C = 18 ====> A+C = 34 (Ans)..

Hope is a good thing,may be the best of things,and no good thing ever dies..

ans:34

pls elaborate the steps
let 4x be the no. of choclates received by first son , therefore second son receives 3x choclates.

now, we are give that for for every 2x choclates for second son third son gets 3x choclates
so for 3x chocolates of second son the third son gets (9/2)x choclates

so we have first son has 4x, second has 3x and third has (9/2)x

now, given 3x=12
x=4

therefore chocolates received by other two sons =4x+(9/2)x
=16+18
=34

cheers....

pls give elaborate solution
Divide num and den by q^2 and put p/q=x.

21x^2+x=45x-15 =>21x^2-44x+15=0

=>x= (44+/- 26) /42 = 3/7 or 5/3
