you got it all correct, may be the question is not properly constructed but that's the answer.

pls give the explanation also......

let 5 parts be a,b,c,d,e
from 1st statement, 2a = 3b = 4d
from 2nd statement, 2b = 5c = 6e
hence we can say 4a = 6b = 15c = 8d = 18e
dividing by 720,
we can say numbers r in ratio
90:60:24:45:20
a)The first part is a multiple of 72
false
b)The second part is divisible by the forth part
false
c)the product of the first and fourth parts is divisible by 30
true
d)the first part is a factor of the last part
false

A number is divided into five parts ,Twice the first part,thrice the second part and four times the fourth part are equal .Twice the second part ,five times the third part and six times the last part are equal .Which of the following is always true if all the parts are integers ??????
1-the first part is a multiple of 72
2--the second part is divisible by the fourth part
3--the first part is the factor of the last part
4-- the product of the first and the fourth parts is divisible by 30
plss elaborate by steps

the question is correct...
maybe we can expect this type of language in CAT...
question asks
between 11 to 12, how many times will both {minute and hour} hands of clock will be at an integral values.
it does not say whether they will intersect or overlap.

my approach is simple, based on ratio..
the bigger the side, larger will be the opposite angle, right?
so the angles will be in same ratio as the opposite side.
(period.) question ends here...
further to find angles...
r3 = root3, short form
angles r in ratio 1 : 2 : r3
so we can say
1*x + 2*x + r3*x = 180
x*(3 + r3) = 180
x = 180 / (3 + r3)
x comes out to be 38
hence we get the angles...
wots ur approach?
howcome u got side opposite to root3 = 60? and other one as 120?

11:12, 11:24,11:36,11:48
Ankurb these answers does not satisfy the question that has been asked
becoz the angle of the hor hand at 48 min would be 24 degree(from 11 o clock position) or 354 degree from the 12 o clock position
and minute hand would be at 48*6 degree that is 288 degree from 12 o clock position.
and the rest of the answers 11:12, 11:24,11:36 ...on looking at them you can just tell that these are not correct....
I think the answer should be 0....
Ur thought!!!!
On second thought after reading the post by justtj the answers make sense

really really elaborate version
let 5 parts be a,b,c,d,e
from 1st statement, 2a = 3b = 4d
from 2nd statement, 2b = 5c = 6e
hence we can say 4a = 6b = 15c = 8d = 18e
dividing by 720,
we can say numbers r in ratio
90:60:24:45:20
a)The first part is a multiple of 72
first part is 90, and is not a multiple of 90
hence false
b)The second part is divisible by the forth part
second part = 60, is not divisible by 4th part = 45
hence false
c)the product of the first and fourth parts is divisible by 30
product of 1st and 3rd = 90 * 24
it is divisible by 30
hence true
d)the first part is a factor of the last part
first is 90 and it is not a factor of 20
hence false
if you still cant understand.
pm me.
