@Unhappy_Demon
As given in the question his speed always decreases by 20% of his speed at beginning of his journey. this means his speed always decreases by 0.2x, and it does not depend on his speed at the time.

Hope that removes the confusion.

Thanks.

PEACE.

Varun.

His speed decreases by 20% (of the original speed at the beginning of his journey) for every hour travelled by him and then remains constant for the next 1 hour. At the end of three hours, he has travelled only 70% of the distance. By what percent should he increase his speed for the last one hour (as compared to his third hour speed), so that he reaches the village temple in time?

OPTIONS 1) 49.33 2) 49.34 3) 71.41 4) 71.42 5) 71.44
let the speed be 100 then as per question sped at the begining of 2nd and 3rd hours be 80 and 60 respectively.
now total distance travel in 3 hours is= 100+80+60=240 = 70% x
now x= 342.857
diffrence= 102.857
% change= ((102.857/60)x 100 - 100)= 71.42

hence option (4)

Now solve this ..

1) A natural number ( greater than one) is called squareful number if its prime factorisation contains at least one square. How many squareful numbers below 101 are there
A) 63 B) 61 C) 39 D) 67 E) 41

2) How many pair of consecutive natural numbers less than 51 are squareful numbers as defined above
A) 2 B) 3 C) 4 D) 5 E ) 6

Happy solving.....:xmas:

1) all multiples of 4,9,25,49
4 == 25
9 == 9
25 ==3
49 == 2

so, 39

2){8,9} {24,25} {48,49} {49,50} also {27,28} {44,45}

so, 6

Considering prime factors:
for 2 : All factors of 4 = 100/4 = 25
3 : All factors of 9 = 100/9 = 11 -2(36 and 72 common) = 9
5 : All factors 0f 25 = 100/25 = 4 -1(100) = 3
7: ..........49=2

Total such nos = 39

2) How many pair of consecutive natural numbers less than 51 are squareful numbers as defined above
A) 2 B) 3 C) 4 D) 5 E ) 6
My take is 6....(8,9),(24,25),(27,2,(44,45),(48,49),(49,50)
Happy solving.....:xmas:
Hope am clear... :-)

Menace you considered some common values ( 36 and 72)...u have to subtract that from the answer for Q 1.
