In my opinion, the cancelled CAT of 2003 has been one of the best till date, and IIM L was incharge that time.
I think what Implex has said is true -> but doubts creep at times when you see CAT 2006 Verbal heavy (knowing B was incharge and they have inclination for Verbal guys), and then C (incharge last year) coming out with ATM kinda quant, and just 2 days before CAT last year, IIM C prof. advising students to prepare DS. for sums = 5,6,7 we can have (a+b) or (c+D) in 2 ways i.e. (3+2),(4+1)
(4+2),(5+1)
(5+2), (4+3)
we can interchange the values of (a,b) & (c,d) n also both pairs among themselves. so 8 cases. in all 24 cases where a+b=c+d
total cases possible=120
by symmetry we can say that (120-24)/2=48 cases where a+b<c+d
so ans is 48 |
nbanglorekar i did not get your reason of using symmetry in last step of your solution.
Please enlighten me on the same.

Please enlighten me on the same. | there will be 120 combinations in totality out of which 60 will be mirror images of some other 60...
now you get 24 cases where (a+b)=(d+e)
so cases u're left with = 120 - 24 = 96
so out of 96, 48 wud be gud and 48 (ie. their mirror images) will be not so gud...
so 48...!!!! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to neynetr For This Useful Post:

we know that this has to be greater than 1.5 and less than 2.
As a,b,c... are +ve integers.
a has to be 1
Now, remaining term i.e. 1/(b+ 1/(c+ 1/(d+....) should be less than 1 and more than 0.5
for which the denominator should be less than 2.
Thus, b can take only 1 value and that is 1.
So b-a = 0 |
is there any way to check whether 7^1/3 lies between what range.?
how did u come to know that 7^1/3 lie between 1.5 and 2? any method?

Hi,
I would like to thank the PaGal.Guy team as i found the paper "very" well balanced. These papers can bridge the gap b/w the genius and one who is prepared to work hard.
I would also like to know whether such tests are available for DI and Verbal Ability.
Thanks

| Hi,
Shouldn't the answer this question be (B)
because g(-1)= 1- f(-1+1)
= 1- f(0)
similarly for g(1)
g(3) would render it out of domain of f(x) because f(4) is not defined.
