Dear puys,

I happen to get my QQAD on time in the mornings so if anyone wants me to auto-forward it to them, please PM me your email address and I'll set it to auto-forward from my Gmail.

Thanks and cheers,
Apurv
Apurv, we will be off this weekend and hopefully things should be fine by early next week. I fear the auto-forward may not work just in case you also miss the NL [since it is really erratic]
Thanks for your help

Problem 2:

ABC is an acute angled triangle. CD be the altitude through C. If AB = 8, and CD = 5. Find the distaance between the mid-points of AD and BC.

Answer: (22.25)^1/2 or 4.7 (approx.)

Let the line joining midpoints be GE.
E is midpoint of BC. Draw a line passing through E || to AB. This intersects DC at G and AC at F; both midpoints (by midpoint theorem)

Also join GF. In triangle ABC, GF passed through G, F (both mid points). Hence GF||DC and half of it. Also GF is perpendicular to FE. triangle GFE (joining 3 midpoints of triangle ABC) is a right angle triangle.

Again FE = AB * 1/2 = 4
so GE = (22.25)^1/2 or 4.7 (approx.)

Your answer is correct for this.

No takers for 1st problem of set 3?

The answer to integer values of p is p > 5/2 => 7 values.

Some how I just didn't think of all those things you mentioned
You are always there, in this thread or other, I kind of assumed by default

Anyway thanks a lot for today. I was really hectic at work, but I was just solving these sets. If someone from work gets to know I'll probably be thrown out
