Hi
I'm a newbie to PG. QQAD was the major reason for joining PG.My suggestion is that we divide the time from day 1 till Oct 15 for questions on various topics, say week 1 for Ratio etc and for that whole week, questions on ratio should be sent. For a topic requiring more time(Numbers,Geometry etc), we can work for say 3 weeks(in a graded manner, easy ques intially, diff ones later). This way, QQAD will lead to better results.
A small brushup on the theory for a particular day's question,if provided, will act as booster.
Nevertheless, in the current format also (I heard abt QQAD from frens, and saw the 2006 PDF), it does facilitate learning, and that matters most.

Jhakda | Actually - we did try this in 2006 and noticed the excitement level going down due to predictability factor coming into play about the questions - when you knew what is coming next to you. Let me see if we can do somehing about providing theory along with questions each day - the issue is that a QQAD problem doesn't involve application from a single concept - and at times is completely raw where student can attempt without the knowldege of any theory and formulas.
We did try sending 2 questions daily - Easy and Moderate/Tough - the issue here was that people would solve the easy one immediately and would forget about the other problem.
Somehow the focus of many remained on showing their talent rather than perspiring and learning.
The Good news is that QQAD 2008 is about to start shortly and we will make a formal announcement on the same soon - let's start with just 1 problem a day - depending on your requirements, we will always be flexible for changes What lies in front of you or behind you is nothing compared to what lies within you - T.M.W.S.H.F The greatest events in the life aren't the loudest, but the quietest hours - Anonymous Subscribe to QQAD: http://www.pagalguy.com/index.php?categoryid=65 | | | | | The Following 12 Users Say Thank You to Aarav For This Useful Post: | deep_agrawal (16-04-2008), Fermions (28-04-2008), getintoiimb (16-04-2008), HarshaRocks (28-04-2008), Iota (16-04-2008), krsh.vik (16-04-2008), neversaydie_001 (29-04-2008), reachmonil (16-04-2008), shyamnaren (16-04-2008), swarnali (28-04-2008), utsavmamoria (29-04-2008), v-factor (16-04-2008)

For the starters, Quant Question a Day was started in Feb 2006 and as the name suggests - was primarily 1 quant question a day, though we kept it dynamic for short durations with even 3 problems in a day
| I found QQAD very useful, but thought the questions were on the tougher side maybe because of my pathetic prep last year.
For this year QQAD if it is possible then while posting the answer of the prev day's question if the concepts involved in that question are also discussed then i guess it will be more helpful, and after understanding the concept if one more question on the similar concept can be posted then that will be great | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to asghan For This Useful Post:

Adding to Rani's post; in the mocks last year, I never quite managed to clear the quant cutoofs. Never in the mocks. Kept on trying. In the CAT paper itself, i managed to get a 98.82 %ile. I am the first to admit that my quant isn't good enuff for that score. So to all those, who are gonna be a part of QQAD 2008, best of luck. Don't think that since you haven't been able to solve the question of the day, you are no good. Just keep on trying. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to swagatsinha For This Useful Post:

Would like to bolster the views put forward by rani & swagat.
This INDEED was the most useful thread to me last yr. Most of the questions makes u think out of the box, out of the formulaic/short cut methods. In fact in most cases u have to develop ur own line of reasoning !!
I still remember following this thread religiously every morning, n there was an untold/silent competition to come out with the answers b4 others with the proper explanation.
btw, SPECIAL THNX to Aarav & Vinnet.nitd. Both of them just ROCKS !!
their contriubution has been the bedrock of this thread.
Anyone who is a CAT 2008 aspirant, and is reading this post, I would just like to give my two-penny advice:
FOLLOW THIS THREAD RELIGIOUSLY. and u would see the results for urself; if not 99.xx %ile in Quant, u'll definitely learn a LOT . | | | | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Fermions For This Useful Post:

Hi Aarav,
I've gone through all the posts and would like to share my QQAD experience...
I joined PG in April '07 but became active in August only and had subscribed to only 1 thread - QQAD and followed it religiously till the end.
Many puys have talked about the difficulty level of the questions but I agree to disagree...
For someone like me who is not a Quant genius but who has just a fascination for Quant,
QQAD was not scary... in fact it was a healthy mix of tricky and easy questions..those who followed it everyday will second my opinion. Also,it was a great learning experience as at times we used to get even 5 possible solutions to a question(thanks to all the members who used to post their solution even after somebody had already posted it)
Also, the tests had a very good set of questions and helped me increase my focus and speed...Although I couldn't do well in CAT,I owe a lot to QQAD for helping me build concepts and making me more confident in QA.
But on certain occasions,I found not only the questions a bit tough but also the solutions..so my request -
1) if possible, you can post easy and tricky questions on alternate days
2) in case a concept like Euler's or something uncommon is used to solve a particular question, kindly throw some light on the concept as well
3) if possible, you can post a few questions of higher maths (maybe a ques a week) which can be helpful for JMET/XAT as well
Thanks Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal! | | | | | The Following 6 Users Say Thank You to swarnali For This Useful Post:

Thanks | Thanks Swarnali for the feedback. First 2 points will be taken care of from now - the solutions will be very comprehensive; questions will be mixed bag . The last point is something we would explore - since CAT quant is very different from that of JMET and XAT is hugely unpredictable.
