see all the values we get should eb integers
I started with 4y as he brought in equal numbers for all
now
we get numbers like (3y-3)/8
clearly y should be of the form of 8k+1
and thus go ahead, you might not need to solve all the equations

73. If the number of candies that Pooja got was equal to the number of candies that both Upasana and
Tanisha got together, how many candies did "Deepak bring?
(1) 100 (2) 132 (3) 164 (4) 200 (5) Cannot be determined
I have a doubt in this question.. cudnt deepak bring 66 candies or 198..
shouldnt d answer be option 5 in this case.. i.e. cnt be determined as dpk cud hv brought different number of choclates..
plz clarify..
thanxx

If u take 4x as the total candies and go by the conditions:
Pooja = x+3
Ramneet = (3x-3)/4
Upasana = (3x-3)/4
Tanisha = (3x-3)/8
Now according to ques
x+3 = (3x-3)/4 + (3x-3)/8
On solving x=33
so Candies by Deepak = 4x = 4*33 = 132
Hope it helps

no!! its' correct
4(8k+1) is the first criteria
then we have
y+3=(3y-3)/4+(3y-3)/8
8y+24=9y-9
y=33
so candy is 33.4=132

Problems 76-77
Use the usual options for DS
76) abc
+def
---------
xyz
If in this addition a,b,c,d,e,f,x,y,z are distinct single digit positive integers . What is Z?
X:3a=f=6y
Y:f-c=3
77) A number of apples and oranges are to be distributed among evenly among a number of baskets. Each basket will contain atleast one of each type of fruit. If there are 20 oranges to be distributed, What is the minimum no of apples needed so that every basket contains less than twice as many apples as oranges.?
X: If the number of baskets were halved and all other conditions remained same, there would be twice as many oranges in every remaining basket.
Y: If the number of oranges were halved it would be no longer possible to place an orange in each basket.

For 76 only A would suffice as:
c=3.. other possible values can be 7,8,9 but then checking further,shows that more den one variable has the same integral value.
77. it's too confusing. Is the condition this :: 2A<O ??? Rushing to
office

hey..heres a simple question but i dint know the proper way of finding the answer...plz let me know..
When asked the time of the day, a problem-posing professor answered, "If you add one-eighth of the time from noon until now to one-quarter the time from now until noon tomorrow, you get the time exactly." What time was it?
Choose one answer.
a. 5: 20 b. 5: 08: 32 c. 5: 03 d. 5: 45

For Q.76 X is sufficient condition and
for Q.77 I think both the conditions are insufficient.

Let time now is Ahrs(60A mins) and B mins.
according to eqn..
(60A+B)/8 + [24*60 - (60A+B)]/4 = 60A+B
Simplifying gives:
60A+B=320..
Hence options (a) satisfies..
