A) 2π
B) π
C) 4π
D) 6π
E) none of these
A and B will be end points of diameter of a circle.... So PA^2+PB^2 = (Dia)^2 => Dia= sqrt(10)
So area of S= 10(pi)/4 = 2.5 pi

Re: official quant thread for cat08 - 02-09-2008, 01:53 PM

Is the Answer is 2.
We can solve it by using remainder theorem. Take 32^32 first , and express it as
(2^3 *2^2)^32. Express 7 as 2^3 -1 . Now use remainder theorem .Put 2^3 = 1 . U will be left with 2^64 .Express i as (2^63*2) ....here 2^63 can be break up into 2^3 .So remaining will be 2.
Hence 2 .Pls let me knoe if i m wrong somewhere .

Re: official quant thread for cat08 - 02-09-2008, 02:03 PM

Cpl of questions on Number systems:

1. whats the remainder when 5^7^9^7^5 is divided by 18?
a. 12
b. 11
c. 5
d. 7
e. 10

2. whats the remainder when 32^32^32^32^32^.... infinity is divided by 7?
a. 3
b. 5
c. 4
d. 2
e. 1

Sol1 :- Is answer is 5 .Here we can use pattern method .We see that when we try to divide higher power of 5 with 18 we get a pattern which repeats itself after 6 . IN order to find pattern divide till 5^3 .Remainder when we divide 5^3 with 18 is -1 , hence we can conclude that pattern will repeat after 6 .
So now task is simplified .
we just need to find what is the remainder when 7^5^..... is divided by 6 .
We can express 7^5... as (6+1)^5^.... .Hence remainder is 1 .
So answer should come from 5^1 /18 .remainder is 5
Sol2 :-Is the Answer is 2.
