hence total distance as per your method is 10 not 5
yeah right...
thanx for pointing out dude...
i didn't count it twice...

Let a1 = x, b1 = y, where x and y are positive.
an = x + bn-1, bn = y + bn-1 for even n > 1.
an = x + an-1, bn = y + an-1 for odd n > 1.

If x = 3/4 and y = 1/4, then which is the highest odd n for which (an)/(bn) > 1.05?
21
20
17
19
23..

highest odd is 19

a2n+1 = n(x+y) +x
b2n+1 = n (x+y)+ y
put k =10
10.75/10.25< 1.05 so so we have n= 19 as answer..

dont know the exact answer.. but i got 3+3sqrt2..

i dropped perpendiculars from P to X-axis and then from P to the line y=x.

since perpendicular distances are the shortest.. thats why i used this approach..

A small query:-

For applying Euler number approach to calculate remainder...is it necessary that numerator and denominator are coprime???

4) Let the point P be (4,3). Choose a point Q on y=x line and another point R on the line y=0 such that sum of lengths PQ+QR+PR is minimum. Find this minimum length.
A) 5√2 B) 3+3√2 C) 5 D) 4 E) 10
c) 5

if i consider Q as (3,3) and R as (3,0) ... then
3+1+root(10)
thats approx 7.16

so ans has to be 5 or 4 .. not sure how to get em..

Yes both has to be co-prime.

Thanks
