ans : -13.8 | Let the price of the fruit be Rs.1 and he has 100 fruits(assuptions for easy calculaion)...20% rotten..so 80 fruits left...earlier he used to sell it at Rs1.15(
15%profit)...now he sells it at (10%above)1.1*1.15=1.265..
Total SP Now =1.265*80 =101.2 ... Profit% =1.2%
Total SP earlier = 115....Profit % =15%
Change in profit % = 15-1.2 = 13.8% decrease.. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to KIMSTER For This Useful Post:

2)a carpenter wants to sell 40 chairs.if he sells them at Rs 156 per chair he would be able to sell all the chairs.but for every Rs 6 increade in price he will be lwft with one additional unsold chair.at what SP would he able to maximise his profits(assume unsold chairs remain with him)?
ans : 198 |
Let the number of chairs left ubsold be = k
so the Total SP = (40-k)(156+6k)=6240+84k-6k^2.
For Total SP to be maximum its first differential shd be eual to zero and second differential should be negative.
1st differential of SP = 84-12k...wen its equated to zero we have k=7
2nd differential = -12..so negative...
So SP is Max. at k=7... when k=7, the SP of a single chair is =156+6*7=198.
@getintoiimb...i have a small suggestion...kindly avoid putting answers along with the question...it takes the eagerness factor away... | | | | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to KIMSTER For This Useful Post:

a)48 Kmph
b)54 Kmph
c) 58 Kmph
d) None of these Ans-- 48 Kmph
My approach---
Since distance is constant I assumed it to be 96 Km
Going by the options...
Time taken(original)= 96/48=2hrs
As given in ques=50/48+46/36----this is not equal to 155 min as given in the ques(35 min late)
I tried with all the options still no luck
Is my approach wrong???
P.S. Its 50 ques from LOD(2) Arun Sharma | though distance is constant, but still u can't take it to be 96 km here...
well why? lemme take an example..
u said we can tk it to nythin..if i follow ur approach then it shud work for any value of total distance i take...
i take total distance to be 50.000000001 km
now he travels 50 m with v speed and rest 0.000000001 km with 3/4 v,...
do u feel that if he reduces his speed for just 0.000000001 km then he'll get late by 10 mins..
i hope u get the point..its not an independent value...(coz of tht 50 km thing)..so tht assumption was flawed...hence the mistake...

but just a suggestion..can we have the answers for them as well ?
i know im acting sly here but couldnt resist..referring the pdf with the answers would be much better as we dont have to scroll bacl 200 odd pages..that was just a suggestion..but great job !!
we could also don one thing..have the answers for that pdf in 2 weeks time in a seperate pdf so that ppl can also work out the probs at home and for those that we aint able to solve, rather than re posting them here we can refer the pdf | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to getintoiimb For This Useful Post:

If you are desperate then do the hard work of looking into the forums.
I will post the answers in some time!! | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to implex For This Useful Post:
