"Dravid and Sachin each had a certain number of playing marbles. Dravid lost a game to Sachin and had to give Sachin half of his marbles. In the second game, Sachin lost and had to give three-fourths of his marbles to Dravid, who now had thirty marbles. Finally, the two played a third game. Sachin won and acquired some of Dravid?s marbles.At this point, each boy had exactly the number of marbles he had started with, and Dravid had twice as many marbles as Sachin. How many marbles did Sachin has in the beginning?"

mod(x+1)/mod(x)+mod(x+1)=mod(x+1)^2/mod(x)
mod(x+1){1/mod(x)+1-mod(x+1)/mod(x)}=0
so,mod(x+1)=0
or 1+mod(x)-mod(x+1)=0
mod(x+1)=0 if x=-1
if x<-1,1+mod(x)-mod(x+1)=0
1-x+x+1=0
2=0....not possible
if -1<=x<0,1-x-(x+1)=0....not possible
if x>=0,1+x-(x+1)=0
x can have any value in the interval
so,x=-1,x>0(since x is not equal to 0)

no. of negative integers is 1 | Hi, the question you posted had a small mistake. You should have posted mod((x + 1)/x) .... instead you posted mod(x+1/x) and thus no answer matched. | | | | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Dream08 For This Useful Post:

Well there are already loads of thread running on quant and related topics, but if this thread has to retain its name as official quant thread, you have to follow guidelines similar to the CAT 07 quant thread,else this will be closed soon.
Hence, ideally the puy who started this thread, should take up the responsibility to do the same. | | | | | The Following User Says NO Thank You to rmbt For This Un-useful Post: | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to rmbt For This Useful Post:
