Adding 1,2,3,4 we get a+b+c+d=3(aw+bx+cy+dz).........5
From 1 we get a(1+w)=aw+bx+cy+dz=N
1/(1+w)=a/N
similarly from 2,3,4 we get 1/(1+x)=b/N, 1/(1+y)=c/N, 1/(1+z)=d/N
Adding we get the req.=(a+b+c+d)/N
Using 5 in above eq we get ans=3
Hence (B)

The question is not ambiguous.
It just means that if one friend does not contribute then others contribute that given extra (viz w,x,y,z)
for instance if 1st friend does not contribute then the rest contribute x,y and z amount extra.
Let each friend initially contribute a,b,c,d amounts resp.
Then, a+b+c+d=(a+w)+(b+x)+(c+y)
a+b+c+d=(b+x)+(c+y)+(d+z)
a+b+c+d=(a+w)+(d+z)+(c+y)
a+b+c+d=(a+w)+(b+x)+(d+z)
So we get
d=w+x+y
a=x+y+z
b=w+y+z
c=w+x+z
adding, a+b+c+d=3(w+x+y+z)
So w+x+y+z=total cost of gift/3

Please refrain from posting Ur doubts that is not related to the practice test in this thread. Better Use number system thread.
Ne way, Answer follows here:
For perfect square, the no. when expressed in terms of prime nos. should have even power for each prime nos.
46305 = (3^3)*5*(7^3)
Thus, Muliply by 3*5*7 = 105 to get perfect square.

46305=5* (3^3)* (7^3)=5*3*7* (3^2) * (7^2)
hence to make it a perfect square multiply the no by 3*5*7=105

People, I attempted 5 got 2 wrong... extremely poor results... :bad-word:
What do I do to improve this?
You know, I attempted atleast 10 more questions but solved half of them only and then left them since I feared that I will spend >5 mins on them.. I knew I could have solved them fully.. but this sense of nerviousness got me down..
what do I do guys? Solving questions is not a tough job for me, I guess trouble lies in my frame of mind.. any tips or strategies for improving my scores?

Hi Paras,
It's too early to talk about results. This paper was on a tougher side. Many like you faced the problem of solving questions half and leaving in between. My suggestion to you in this kind of paper is - look for the easy set and ace all of them. This paper had 5 such and it would have taken you 11/12 minutes on them. In the rest 38/39 minutes - go for 7/8 more from the topics which is your strong area. Gauging the toughness and estimating what amounts to good percentile is an art and one must develop this art while taking the test. I'm sure had you known that score of 44 in this paper means 99+ percentile, you would have found 11 questions to answer correctly in 50 minutes.
