As 'article' is a 7 letter word, we have only 3 even positions to place a, i and e. So we have to select 3 vovels for 3 positions (3C3 = 1) and arrange them in 3! ways. And the rest four letters can be arranged amomg themselves in 4! ways. Hence we get total arrangements with vowels occupying the even places as (3C3)x3!x4!.
Total possible arrangements without any condition are 7!.
Hence the probability = (3!x4!)/7!
= 1/35
