CAT 2007: Quantitative Questions a Day 51 to 100 - The Discussions - 06-06-2007, 01:33 PM

Please carry the QQAD discussion for the next 50 problems here.
Try getting each and every solution in the very 1st attempt itself. Avoid risky speed.

Just in case you see any mod around, please request him to make this thread sticky.

Good Luck to all :-)

Well, my little contribution to the QQAD. Solutions to the first 48 problems
The last two arent added because of the jumbling up of the questions by the NL
Have added it in various formats

One request: Someone please keep track of the problems with solution in a file from now on.

Cheers
Sunil

Hi,
For Quest # 51,
The min LCM I got is 12..and mac is 420,
so M = 408.
So there are only 16 such factors..
Hence my answer is (E)

51)
The sum of 6 natural numbers (not necessarily distinct) is 23. Let M denote the positive difference of the maximum and minimum of the LCM of these 6 numbers. Then total number of divisors that divide M^2 but doesn't divide M are

(a) 22 (b) 33 (c) 18 (d) 26 (e) none of the foregoing

Therefore factors of 402^2 that won't divide 402 are 804, 1206, 67*402, 201*402, 134*402 and 6*402. So there are only 6 such factors..
Hence my answer is (E)

pls type the 51 question:( I could access my email today.

Dhruv,

If we consider the 6 numbers as 4,4,4,4,4 and 3 (Since the numbers do not have to be distinct), the LCM is 12 which is I believe the minimum possible LCM.

Max LCM.. still working on it.
