arun sharma is the best..as it gives u faster ways of calculating...
it has a chapter on calculations...good for ds/di..
for ds/di u wont find ne good book...there isnt ne..rely on mocks and coaching material..nd cat type qs...
for basic in quant coaching material ne wud suffice.....
give sufficient time to all prblms...think new ways, shrtcuts
@jet_112...qqad will be mailed at ur mail id daily...or u can visit pg and get it

Dear friends, During preparation the biggest problem is that the whole material should be in one place &well organised. And for that reason a book-QUANTUM CAT (from Arihant Publication ,By sarvesh Kumar Verma) is the best one, I recommend all the CAT aspirants must use this book. It will certainly help u. This book contains all the basics of maths which is used in quants. Buliding concept is the key point to success and this book has enough capability to build up your concept. So if u r really want to crack the CAT, Just go through this book. U may find as I have observed some noticable n effective characters in the Quantum CAT- 1-comprhensive n extensive discussion thru lucid illustration 2-innovative solutions n unique feasible short cuts 3-Faster Calculation techniques 4-Eliminates the need to study special books of 8th or 10th std to clear the basics. 5-thoroughly solved with different approaches 6-practice tests n previous years CAT papers included.

If you want to get your basics clear, What I would suggest is 8th, 9th, 10th books. I bought CBSE BOOKS. However, I found they were not really good.
They didn't more of Airthmeatic. Personally, it was not of much help.
I have done my schooling for ICSE board and was not really satisfied with the content of the books, I got ICSE books of 8th, 9th and 10th- Trust me guys, for those who wants to get their basics right really great. These are really gud books. You must go throuth, though they are difficult to get in delhi, however you can get them in Nai Sarak or Phargang. As they are published for here....
For Quants which would be a better book: TMG(Tata mack grill) or Arun Sharma?

the basics before all the chapters are far better than the coachin class materials
and lod 2 and lod 3 are "cat like" ..so go for that If you have the belief to choose your road
If you have the courage to stay on it
If you have the conviction to surmount the rough stretches
If you do..you will find the road begins to follow you

Since you have been away from maths for long, the best way to brush basics would be to revise from NCERT text books.... these books will help you feel comfortable, there is no need to jump to advanced books, loaded with unnecessary short cuts which will only confuse you at this stage. you can refer to them once you finish the text books. This is the most proper and preferred way to come back to the math circuit.
Go for class 8-12 math books first. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
