My answer to this question Is 31. the terrorists released will be all inside doors of square number walla doors.
eg , door no 9 open at 1 , closes at 3 , open at 9.
All non square integers , have pairs of different factors so , by the end of
Varun's trick , they ll be closed.
ans : c) 31.
ppl , if ans is correct , plz post da next qn , i ll be off to college and ll be back only after 8 , why waste time??

#Problem 64 Solution
N=1111...a...1111
since 111111 is divisible by 13
then N= (111111)x10^44+(111111)x10^38+(111111)x10^32+(1111 11)x10^26+a x 10^25+(111111)x10^19+(111111)x10^13+(111111)x10^7+ (111111)x10+1
All the components are divisible by 13 except a x10^25+1
Remainder of ax10^25+1 whwen divided by 13 should be zero hence
Remainder of (10xa(100+1)^  /13 + 1/13 will be 10a/13 +1/13
=(10a+1)/13
for this to be zero a =9 bcoz
13x7=91
Hence the answer is 9

dude i think the people who go fishing like snow whereas people who are into frisbee avoid the rains.
this is what i comprehend. well now we can try and solve this question on this funda.
infact i didnt get "Anthony likes whatever any one of the other like"
please explain

Hi, there was a mistake in that line...it should be , "Anthony likes whatever any one of the other two like"
BTW, you mean ....people fishing in snow! damn! in cold ? in Himalaya....there is no fish.

Hi
tired_soul, I am also getting the answer as 31, the process I had followed is as follows:
It is clear from the question, if any no. is having even no. of factors including one, it will remain closed. And the cell bearing the no. which have odd no. of factors will be open at the end.
Suppose the number of the cell is N.
Now N can be written as:
N = 2^a * 3^b * 5^c *........
The no. of factors for N including 1 will be
F = (a+1)(b+1)(c+1).......
for F to be an odd number a, b, c,.. all have to be even i.e. divided by 2.
Hence N will become a Perfect Square, so we will get only those cell opened which are squares.
Hence the answer is 31.
If there is any mistake, please do discuss.
Bye.

Hello,
Webmonkey, what I comprehend from ur question is: All those who go to fishing, also likes snow. And a person who plays frisbee does not like rain. As per u were saying that fishes in snow, let me tell you that in Arctic Region, fish is that region vegetation.
Now as per ur question I believe the answer is Amar, Since Akbar likes rain, he cant be a frisbee player, and Akbar also like snow, but he likes fishing or not cant be said. As Amar dislikes what Akbar likes, hence Amar does not like rain and snow. Since Amar doesnot like snow Amar cant be a Fishing Fond. on the other hand, he also dislikes rain, Amar can be a Frisbee player.
Now come to the conditon which says Amar likes that Akbar dislikes, Since Akbar dislikes Frisbee, Amar likes it, Hence confirmed.
Amar is the player which plays frisbee not like fishing.
Answer can be incorrect, please do check it. I had just started to prepare.
Bye.

N is a 50 digit number in decimal representation.All digits except the 26th from left are 1.If N is divisible by 13, find its 26th digit

I got the answer as 3 but again not by a very conventional method.
By simple hit and trial we can observe that 1111..upto six digits will be divisible by 13. This implies that 111111111......upto 24 terms, if divided by 13 won't ve any remainder. Now let the 26th digit be x. By same priciple the last 24 terms will leave no remainder. So for 1111111111....1x.....1111111....upto 50 digits to be a perfect multiple of 13, 1x must be divisible by 13. This is possible if and only if x=3.
U amy call it a pure hit and trial method but i guess this method is handy as far as cat is concerned. For proving it in a "silsilewar" way, tired soul's method is perfect.

If the number of factors of te door number are odd , then only the door will be open ...
this will happen only when we have the door numbers as 1 ,2^2 , 3^2 , 4 ^2 , 5^2 ,
.............31^2 [32^2 =1024 is out of the range ]
Hence 31 prisoners will be free
