Folks,
Just a friendly advice..if you notice the DI trends since Cat 2001, the days of the calculation intensive DI sets are over. They have become more logical (count & do types). You don't have to be nimble with numbers to crack them, instead a cool open mind and confidence is all that is needed.

Treat them no differently than you would to a LR puzzle.
I too was terrible in DI...so I made a work-around. Since DI has DS and LR as well.
Here is what I used to do:
1. I started of with DS and tried to do as many of them as possible.
2. Scan and do all (or almost all) LR sets that I can.
3. Pick ONLY those DI sets that I am comfortable (similar to approach you follow to pick RC passages) and do them alone.
This greatly increased my score (if not too much atleast it was enough to comfortable clear the cut-offs).
