Thumbs up Case Studies-preparation Tips,samples,discussions - 06-02-2008, 06:04 PM

Hi All
Most of the MBA Colleges in the Second round have started using Case Studies in Group Discussion Round.I am starting this thread for all Aspirants who want to crack the Next round.Understanding Case Studies will not only help you in clearing Second Round in MBA Admissions but also help you in forming a Structured and Coherent View Point to any problem in life.

To start with let us Start from Basics and then Build upon the Foundations.I have found a few Good Sites of Consulting Companies who have put up Case Study Samples which can help us form a lil idea about how to Structure our Thoughts,How to Approach a Problem and How to Clarify and Give Solutions.

I would advise all those who are Interested to go through these for a week or so and then we can start with Simple Case Studies to see How much we have Learnt and How much we can Practically apply our learnings to Real-life scenarios.

I will try to add more Material soon.In the Meantime Go thru Below Stuff and Let me Know your feedbacks about the whole idea and any areas for improvement.

Was busy with College and Company Interviews and therefore didnt get the time to update this thread. Yesterday found this thread on PG itself which deals with Different forms of consulting i.e Strategic, Management, IT.

(Consulting - Management, Strategic, IT et all)http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/career-discussions/11643-consulting-management-strategic-et-all.html

Also attaching few of the important articles which will give you a basic idea about different forms of consulting and work involved in them :

http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/296940-post19.html - Gives a list of useful sites related to Consulting Industry

http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/career...tml#post297120 (Consulting - Management, Strategic, IT et all) - Post by Catie which discusses the role of IT Consultants involved in ERP

http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/302262-post26.html - Discusses what Strategic Consulting is all about

http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/career...tml#post308877 (Consulting - Management, Strategic, IT et all) - Good post which talks about Stratas in Consulting Biz and Skills needed to survive in Consulting

http://www.rediff.com/money/2005/dec/22sudhi.htm - Excellent article which talks about Consulting as a carrer choice

http://www.iimcal.ac.in/community/consclub/relevantLinks.html - IIM Cal Consulting Club Site. Although most of the areas are restricted but still the site provides lots of information on Indian Consulting Industry and links to other B schools Consulting Clubs.

http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/296909-post17.html Talks about various Consulting Companies and the type of consultancy they are involved in.

I feel if anyone of you need any advice related to consulting we can post it on other thread, although it lacks participation nowadays. Is it possible for someone to get in touch with any of the B Schooler who are in Consulting Clubs to answer our questions. As for this thread i request all of you to start adding materials related to Consulting Industry. We can discuss over some case studies to understand the process. Also you can post articles and current happenings in consulting world.

P.S Interested people start pouring your ideas how we can build upon our skills required for this industry and also how we can gain knowledge in this field.

Thanks
