Re: Coaching classes for CAT ?? - 19-04-2007, 05:09 AM

Hi Everyone,

I am planning to join coaching classes and test series for CAT 2007 prep. Want to make the decision asap as itz quite late already.

I plan to join either TIME or IMS weekend batch but am confused due to mixed views about their coaching centres. I live in Borivali(Mumbai) but don't mind travelling to Andheri/Dadar/any other place in Mumbai if a particular Coaching Centre is better than the others.

Any views on Best coaching centres and test series in Mumbai will be EXTREMELY helpful.

Thanks in Advance!

Personal tutor for Quant / Classes for CAT. It would be better if u join some small private tutors instead of big classes like TIME or IMS. Munira Lokhandwala is good .. she scored 100 percentile. But she is quite expensive, somewhere around 30K and fast. Another option is Patrick who has scored 99.95 percentile. Both take private coaching at Dadar. Then there are others such as Parag Chitale and Murtuza Gadiawala ... do not know much about them.

IMS has got better faculty than TIME in Mumbai, it being IMS HQ
speaking about test series People appearing for IMS is much more than for TIME
but TIME test is of good quality than IMS
u can even plan to go for both
give TIME tests on saturday evening and IMS on sunday

Re: Coaching classes for CAT ?? - 19-04-2007, 11:03 AM

Well adding to what arorasid bhai said i would like to add my experiences,
during my 3 rd year i wasted 2 or 3 months wondering about which coaching insti and all that blah blah

after wasting that time i joined CL ludhiana, was very happy as PG quant god khanna_sumit was the one who taught ua math there,he is a 100%iler 2 times in maths
but inspite of all that i scored poorely in 2 cats in maths

reasons
  • Never paid heed to basics
  • Always tried to crack tough problems
  • Never practised as sumit bhai told
  • Always thought i can do well in CAT with eng only
MORAL- Never rely on coaching ,it is only for punctuality, just follow the schedule the teacher told you.All of us think that we know everything and dont follow what they suggested, but believe me they know beeter then us.

BE consistent,and punctual

Rest all will follow.

ATB

P.S: sorry khnaaaji for bringing disgrace to your name:neutral: ,will make u proud one day

Lets go question by question

1.) Will it be a good option to take coaching ?
well yes, as u stay in touch of some good competition and u can clear ur doubts

2.) will it be good to shift to some other city like delhi or hyderabad n take coaching ?
not really
as the material is same everywhere and so is the methodologies
infact most of the coachings have Instructer notes so that it is common everywhere
and good teachers are not only in big cities they r also born in smaller cities

3.) Which one is the best option Time/CL/IMS ?
it depends from place to place and read mine previous post along with Abhi_g1's post on this very page only

4.) In hyderabad which one(CL/TIME/IMS) is the best ? In delhi ?
Hyderabad-TIME HQ so should be a good one
Delhi- well IMS CP, IMS KC, TIME North campus r good
it depends on which one is close to your home as al r good

5.) In hyderabad which one is the TIME's Main centre/ HQ?

Ameerpet
Dilsukhnagar
Kukatpally
Nallakunta Narayanguda
S.R.Nagar
Mehdipatnam
Park Lane
and which one is the best ?

Ahhhh, well all r good as the faculty is same
TIME's methodlogy is they give experts for particular topic
so one weekend they teach at center A other at B and so on
so that every student can make good use of their expertise
