A Small Tool to help you prepare - 04-11-2007, 07:09 PM

EDIT : New version. Please go through the thread for details on the updates
************************************************** **********

Hi Guys,

This is my first post at PG. I have been reading posts on the forums for the past couple of months.

I joined CAT Coaching at TIME for CAT 2008. We were asked to start practicing speed maths, etc. etc. I have created a small tool which is helping me a lot, and I hope you can get some use out of it.

It's very crude (took about 6 hours), so don't shout if you don't like it. Win32 is not my primary work platform.

It's easier if you just run the application than me describing it. It's a single .exe which stays on top of all windows and keeps prompting questions.

I use this in office, a quick glance every now and then for some practice.

================================================== ====

Here are the sets right now. Please give me suggestions to add more.

0. Sum of 2 2-digit numbers
1. Sum of 2 3-digit numbers
2. Diff of 2 2-digit numbers
3. Diff of 2 3-digit numbers
4. 100's compliment
5. Mul 20 * 20
6. Powers of 2 upto 14
7. Powers of 3 upto 6
8. Fractions and their percentages
9. Squares upto 25
10. Cubes upto 15

1. Trainer.exe == Will run all sets
2. Trainer.exe 0 == Will run only Set 0 = Sum of 2 2-digit numbers
3. Trainer.exe 0 6 == Will run Set 0 and Set 6
etc. etc
4. To exit, right click on it

================================================== ====

I am planning on adding word list to it. But it will take time. Looking forward to any suggestions.

Good Job...

yeah... Adding Sqare Roots and Cude Roots would really help.. it's a novel idea...

I think its better if you make it a "Speed-math" focussed tool rather than add Word Lists to it.. coz there are LOADS of Word List Tools available in the market...

But really useful stuff.. THANKS A LOT for sharing it with us... DO let us know of updates!

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I will update it this weekend to include square root's and cube roots and multiplication till 30.

@amithar : Can you send me a link to the wordlist tool. I remember one which worked exactly like this some years ago, but I was not able to find it. Thanks.

Really useful tool, especially for the people who are on system most of the time. Looking forward to next version.

i would be more than happy, if i colud beat the time , i am facing problem with the 3 digit subtraction and addition, with rest of the question the speed is absolutely cool.

Hey if u have time , i guess u can add the speed control button, may be atleast for 3 levels ( slow, medium and fast ) in ur next version
