The only thing I heard about event management was that it is not a preferred option for MICAns anymore, since it doesn't pay as well.
Check out the figures
here and you'll see that there are no event management recruiters at MICA. If you want to try something on your own, that's totally up to you... If you're still interested, I could try (emphasis on 'try') to get you some more info.
Yeah, the PGPCME is a new venture of MICA's... Basically a entrepreneurial course.
Pros:
1. MICA brand name
2. Cheaper than the 2 year course
Cons:
1. Not residential
2. Unsure industry reaction since this is the first batch.
For more discussions that PG had on the PGPCME, check out
this link (MICA PGPCME Calls out).
This is the PGPCME's official website.

Lateral placements at MICA are no different from any other major BSchool. Companies will come a few days before actual placements targetting people who have had work experience of 2+ years, and offer them positions that are more lucrative than the general placements. The highest salary at BSchools, including MICA, generally comes through laterals.
Last year, the difference between the lateral average salary and others was around 2 lakhs. The highest lateral was 11 lakhs, I think.

For the various things you can be after passing out of MICA, I'd provided a post on the first page of this thread, which should help you...
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/743727-post2.html
What you are talking about - making ads - comes under the purview of the Creative department of an advertising agency. MICA's PGPCM course (the MBA course) does not cater to that. PGPCM teaches you management in the communications sphere. However, if you're interested in the ad-making department, then you should look at MICA's other offering, the Crafting Creative Communications course, which is a six-month certificate programme.
Academic Programmes - Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad
These guys come out with some brilliant ads... I'll try to get you the link where they put up their ads so you guys can get an idea...
The cost for the PGPCM course for our batch was 8 lakhs, and for the CCC I think it was around 1.5 or 2.

And well how much package can i expect there.

The average salary this year was 7.5 lakhs. One trend we've seen is, the salaries have been moving northwards by leaps and bounds. Last year it was 6.5, before that it was 5.2 or something. So if, powers willing, you make it to MICA next year, you could be looking at an average of close to 10

Please refer that same post I gave in the previous answer for the details on what you can be when you pass out of MICA's PGPCM course...

Other schools... Uhm, as far as I know, there are no Advertising-oriented schools... Even MICA for that matter is NOT an advertising school...
The closest to the PGPCM I guess is the MarCom course offered at SIBM... Also check out SIMC, though I'm unsure of what they offer. NMIMS has an advertising minor, too.

And also in the MICA site it is mentioned that they conduct a separate exam for people who didn't appear for CAT . So, can one register for that exam also...in case he had a bad day with CAT.
Thanks !!

No, you got it wrong... The stages of getting through to MICA are...
1. Write CAT

2. If you're shortlisted on the basis of CAT scores, you will be giving the MICAT, GE and PI.
For details on what these are, please refer to the first page of this post...

:whatthat:
Cheers, everyone!
