Re: MICA Gyaan, Resources and FAQs - 18-01-2008, 09:09 PM

is this thread only for the doubts regarding the communications pg of MICA or can i post my doubts abt the other courses in mica
i basically have doubts regarding the retail communications management[RCM] in MICA
if there is a thread or groups regarding the RCM of MICA,please post the links.
i have gone through some threads/groups,but they are no longer any posts in them.the last posts on them was like 1 year back.
so,any current info on this spec. would be helpful.
i hope someone from th RCM can answer.please chuck ,can u get someone from this spec. into the thread.

thanks

Hey.
Here is my story
OA-93.8 - 97 in va but 41%ile in QA.
I went through target mica 07 thread and saw that a person with 91 overall and 42 in QA didn't get a call..Which was a bit surprising since he had scored well in english and in quant the benefit of doubt couldve been given..I'm hoping this year's criteria is a bit more in sync with MICA's curriculum (which should give weightage only to bad scores in VA if anything since as far as i know u don't need to be great at CAT type maths for being able to follow account planning/market research etc.) And i definitely feel a good OA percentile with a v good VA score definitely merits atleast a call for MICAT..you can always judge the capabilities further over there..

Neway my request is this:
I have a good job opportunity which would require confirmation in the next week. I would not join if i was sure of getting a call but seeing last year's scene i just want to know :
I know you cannot predict the sectionals as of yet..but i just want you to make an informed guess..What do you think..if you HAD to take one side :Will i get a call for MICAT? (quant sectional worry)...

Plz respond ASAP as i need to take a decision soon..The job nowhere near compares to my feelings for MICA but the situation is such that i can't afford to lose it if i dont have much chance of a call..plz be honest..

Thanx a lot.

1. You have a decent chance of getting a call. Last year i had 91 overall and a 60 percentile in quant, got a call. before that 93 overall and 22 in quant (99 in verbal though), got a call. Though am sensing mica is not taking a 40-50 percentile as a sectional, so your will be a borderline case. If you believe in God, pray! It would probably depend on the overall application scene. As in from what i understand, they dont call people over 86.5 or more with a 45+ sectional, they want to call say the 3000 best candidates. So its a comprative thing rather than an absolute decided at the begining.
85+ and 50+ sectional is decent; 90+overall is sureshit in my mind.

2. My comment on to take up job: Bloody well take it.
See the thing is, its retaively easy to get a call. Conversion rates in MICA sucks. Plus, if you had a bad GE or something (through no fault of your own) you're done for! In any case, MICA will start their programme in July. Plenty of time to quit if you make it. Elese you have a nice job on your hands. This will also look good on the interview panel, when you can say you have a good job but are ready to quit for loooooooove of MICA

Best of luck mate.
You hereby owe me a beer.

Cheers.
Chinmaya

Hi Absolutely Lost ( Who isnt )

My two cents

From My last years experience of MICAT, to be very honest and frank with you, One cant really prepare for MICAT.

This is so because the pattern of MICAT may/may not change. Given the pattern , one cant really simulate a test like MICAT.

Most Coaching Intitutes would hardly provide you with training for MICAT. Last year, at IMS , we had a few MICA specific sessions at the Achievers Workshop which were decent. But as i said, nowhere near the actual MICAT

I would suggest that you keep reading up stuff and follow the guidelines given by chuck in the first few posts. Also try practising some essays, which may come handy while answering the Subjective Questions.

Yenjaay

Prime Numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime Numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them.
