Hi to all the experts out there! I've 2 yr exp in a KPO specializing in market research and analytics. me a mech engg. Following is the pitch I've prepared for my why mba question. please let me know if anything is wrong here or how can I improve this - Why MBA- I’m working in my present company for the last 2 years. I’m working in marketing research projects but my role is limited to number crunching and providing quantitative inputs to the actual decision makers. In any company I work at this stage I would be provided a similar technical role.
- As we do these projects, there is a much bigger business aspect to this. Eg. When we are doing a market segmentation study, we are just providing the segment profile and segment statistics but we are not getting to learn how their business works and how this information is going to help them. Even the model and research plan is decided by the company. Initially I felt good as I learnt about the sas, spss then various statistical methods, their application, But now there is really nothing challenging or satisfying for me now. So there is really nothing challenging for me in my present role.
- Now I want to move to a stage where we learn about the business, what problems they are facing then decide upon the research methodology/technique and provide solutions keeping their business objective in mind.
- Effectively I want to move to a consulting profile, as I work on different projects, I will get to learn about different industries, how they function, what are the problems they face, then get to apply my skills and knowledge to those problems.
- I see MBA as a bridge which can take me from my current position to my desired position by means of value addition in terms of knowledge ……… and skills….
also pls let me know what are the knowledge and skills in concrete terms we expect. Though have some ideas like business domain knowledge, time management etc but wud like to hear ur perspective Thanks in advance! | | | | | | | |
