PG Coolest Avatars Contest 2008 - The Nominations!

The PaGaL Election Commission announces the Coolest Avatar Competition 2008 and invites nominations so start away!!

The Process

1. All those who think they possess a cool avatar, nominate yourself by posting here.

2. If you want, you can change your current avatar, finalize it and nominate only after that. Don't change the avatar after nomination.

3. The judges will then shortlist the finalists based on creativity and whackiness of the campaigning, and PG being a democratic place, we will start a poll.

4. The winner of the poll is the winner of the Coolest Avatar 2008

The Basic Rules :

0. This year we have 12 judges instead of 10. So you have to make 2 more people happy as compared to previous year

1. You cannot change your avatar once declared here. If you wish to change, do it now.

2. No plagiarized avatars, try to be original. If two users have same avatar, ONLY the one with an earlier date of joining PG shall be considered.

3. Explain the theme behind your avatar.

4. Work on your Content Delivery/Canvassing Style for the avatar.

5. Having nominated once, the contestant might assume his/her political role and start the campaigning for votes. There are ethical ways and there (un)ethical ways to seek ur votes like PM's, phone calls, SMS, scraps, messengers, cloning, etc. :razz:. You should refrain from the latter route else the CEC might cancel the avatar's nomination.

8. You are free to form pre-poll, post-poll parties and alliances after nominating yourself. So, apart from individual winner of the Coolest Avatar contest we can have a 'Coolest Avatar Party' as well which gets max number of votes in the end.

9. Shortlisting will be based on avatar, Content Delivery/Canvassing Style and X factor :razz:

March 27, Thursday 3 PM - Campaigning Stops and Thread locked

March 28 , Friday, 3 PM - List of Final 10 Nominees will be Announced and the Poll thread would be opened.

Final Nominations, Campaigning, Polling and Result Dates shall be announced later.

Process to be followed by the Judges for final nomination of candidates:

1. Each member of the Fellowship of the Judges will select 10 avatars each based on Content Delivery/Canvassing and Campaign Style, Creativity, Originality and X factor about the avatar. There won't be any party reservations or fixed number of nominations for any party.

2. A single nomination by a judge shall earn one vote for each avatar.

3. This list shall be consolidated and the top 10 vote getters avatar in the list shall be finalists.

4. Each judge is independent & can work on his own way. So parties or candidates can change their campaign accordingly to impress them Also, you can see that forming/promoting parties is fine... but that won't earn individual avatar nominations directly. How do you relate your avatar to the party & many other factors depend on this. So think in those terms right now

5. In case if any judge is unavailable for selecting his/her 10 avatars on time, only the available options shall be considered.

6. In case of a tie in the top 10 slots, the CEC's shall decide who makes into the final list.

10. The whole process shall be transparent & we'll declare the choice of 10 avatars of all the judges on the thread with the announcement of final 10 results.

The story::
Cat 06 had left many a doubt in my mind about myself.
PG gave me the much needed space to rue the chances missed.
Amidst the ruins I kept blaming the competition... And then came the hero.. Watched spidey battle his own doubts, fears and desires to rise above all and do what all he could to achieve his dreams...

I resurrected myself... came back with a bang... And voila... I conquered. The greatest battle was fought and i had won it.
Made Spidey bhaiya my first and last avatar on PG...vinsdome was born!
Will stand by his values till I remain a pagal

I would like to nominate myself for the Coolest Avatar Contest.

My avatar represents what all of us believe in...it represents hope, it represents faith.

For a lot of us, an MBA is a kind of redemption (in the Theological sense). It represents everything that we strive for...knowledge, career growth, networking, personality development, and a lot of other things that change from person to person.

But for me, it also represents an escape...from the past, it represents an opportunity...to prove myself...and that is exactly what my Avatar shows...optimism...

to quote a few lines from a very soulful song..which i believe, complement my avatar...

"Tujh mein agar pyaas hai,
Baarish ka ghar bhi pass hai,
Roke tujhe koi kyon bhala,
Sang sang tere aakash hai".

Just as the light is falling on the person in my avatar, representing salvation, May the pristine illumination of our goal (read MBA) also fall on all of us...

Count me in!

The avatar basically represents the brief flashes of the person we are - struggling to break free from the person we project to be. I believe I have broken the shackles. But there is still that person inside me that others want me to be...in short it is paradoxical to the core. You project yourself to be someone you are not - but the moment you do show your inner self people would rather you conform to their conceptions.

The username I simply chose because I like studying people's ego (dont ask me how or why havent made a science of it myself). It basically goes on the lines of how a person who studies economics is an economist - a person who studies egos is an egonomist

With regard to the competition - well I am already a winner, found a really good avatar which I hope to stick to for a long time.

Good luck to all participants, and if the sms votes dont tally- dont go about announcing that a police complaint is in the offing! (read rakhi sawant and her dancing days)

Putting my hat in the ring here fellas.

My avatar is the Batman, the comic hero. A rare one inasmuch that he has no superpowers, but only his own mental and physical capabilities to keep his city safe. In the process, he has to forego some of his personal life. But a price that he readily pays, for it is a sacrifice that he shall pay. All of us have experienced this at some level; for exams, for parents, for love. Tactically brilliant, he is aware of his surroundings and their use for him.

I may not be Batman, but i am sure that some part of the dark knight resides in all of us, me included. Like him, i am a realist. I don't believe that all is lost, ever. Not at a personal level, not at a professional level, not at a social level. NEVER. Like him, i don't give up till it's over. I am ready to make sacrifices like he is.

I believe in redemption, the same way he believes (or believed) in revenge. Many of my friends warned me after last season's debacle (Could give XAT, FMS only because of some family problems.) to chuck my MBA plans. But i didn't, dropped a year to give full attention to my dream. Got calls from some top MBA institutes this year, and hopefully will join one of them.

Ending on a lighter note, how can you ignore someone who says such super cool stuff as
" As a child, i feared bats. It's time my enemies shared my fear."
" It's not who I am underneath, it's what I do that defines me."

P.S. We have our differences as well. He doesn't want any one to say thanks. I don't mind at all.

The second visiting judge arrives to second the facts placed by the first visiting judge.

The fellowship of judges this time has been chosen with extreme care keeping in mind their integrity and their disability in getting influenced with and ... However, some judges are, and will remain, ready to be influenced.

WITH THIS I NOMINATE MYSELF FOR THE PG coolest avatars contest

When a hunter goes to hunt an animal he should be prepared to deal with anything that may come his/her way. I feel the same every time I give CAT exam.

My tryst with CAT started in 2005 when I first gave CAT. I faced the same exam first time without preparation, zilch knowledge as to what this exam was all about and full of foolish confidence. Needless to say my confidence fell on its face when the results came. First time I tasted failure. Subsequently I have given CAT two more times each time bettering my performance over last year and coming closer to the coveted IIM calls. Each time I encountered it on the morning of the third Sunday of every November for the past three years I thought that I had nailed it but each time it slipped through my grasp like a cunning animal. :bad-word:

Then one day I happened to watch Garfield movie on Star Movies and saw how the cat appeared so cute and innocent but indeed was a cunning and scheming being. That day I had the idea of creating my avatar. Each year I gave CAT it came to me in different avatars and in 2007 when it did come in its previous avatar it again slipped through my grasp because it again did something unexpected.

Then I changed my tactic from trying to tame the CAT or trying to bell it (preferences vary among puys) to trying to KILL THE CAT (so was born this username).

I agree that it sounds kind of violent but it does give me a whole lot more killer instinct than anything else. Every time I log onto PG it reminds of the yet unfinished pledge that made, the pledge to KILL THE CAT exam…. emerge as a winner in this battle amongst equals.

In 2005 DI did me in, 2006 QA was the culprit and 2007 party was spoilt by VA. In 2008 I hope to nail all the three sections. People say CAT has nine lives for me it has just four; this year I claim the trophy.

PG remains my training ground where i perfect my old skills and learn some new ones.
