Okies. To be honest, it's not a happening place.

There are much better places to meet, so Nuremberg, should be kept as a no-accommodation cost option.
But, yes. This place is about 3-4 hours from places like Garmisch-Partenikirchen. So it is possible to check them in a day. Leave early morning, and return by late evening.

Nopes, there ain't any closing ceremony. There is an opening one though!

It's a parade at the city centre. People dressed in traditional dresses, hailing from countryside, present their popular folk songs and dances.
I would suggest, we should look at last weekend of September or first weekend of October. Later, I may be not be available, will either be in Vienna or Tripoli.
