Movie "Rang De Basanti" was to be released as Paint-it-yellow in English!
I dint know if that happened or not but I really liked the name as it has connotations of success attached to it! Also my fav color happens to be Yellow! | | | | | The Following 6 Users Say Thank You to paint-it-yellow For This Useful Post:

Hi puys,
Well this one's not an original...I remember being introduced to the net for the very first time.. This was in the year 2000, I'd just passed out of school...Went to this dingy looking "cyber-cafe"(costing Rs.100/hour in those days )with a pal.
I wanted to create a mail-id for myself, and hadn't thought of a username yet. Those were the days of the No.1 series of movies, courtesy Govinda. I suggested "betanumber1" to my friend and he rolled over laughing... Somehow I liked the freaky name and stuck to it... I've got mixed reviews ever since... | | | | | The Following 5 Users Say Thank You to betanumber1_2000 For This Useful Post:

I calculated that there are nearly 1.72 million people called Sumit in India. Also, another 9.63 million users have 'rocks' associated with their names...like Ajayrocks, Vijayrocks, Girdharirocks etc.
Hence, I took it up purely as a problem on probability. Just wanted to check if I combined 'sumit' and 'rocks', would I get something unique? Hence, 'sumitrocks'
P.S. Real reason - When I made the nickname, I wasn't quite at my creative best. Since then, the creative juices have begun to flow. Hence, I thought I'd better have a creative explanation for my name, at least, if not a creative name. | | | | | The Following 10 Users Say Thank You to sumitrocks For This Useful Post:

When i joined PG i wanted to be anonymous and not use my real name.

the first time i was makin e-mail address in year 2000 (just afetr my 10th), i was very excited and i made an extremely hilarious user name which i shall post here... i stuck to that yahoo address for almost 4 years since i had given that to almost every1..
then came CAT in 2004 and i dared not to give the same e-mail address.. definitely an unnecessary question would have propped up and wld have taken away lots of time in interview...
so for CAT, i decided to make new e-mail at rediff.com.. since i always had problem of misspelling and misprounciation by others i decided not to include my first name - Jaimin... at the same time, i also decided to stop my creative juices flowing to ensure that i can give away a respectable e-mail address for all formal communications in future... jshah was not available so i stuck to jshah29
since then i have been using same username everywhere... "That's the difference between me and the rest of the world! Happiness isn't good enough for me! I demand euphoria!" - Calvin

Well, firstly, I dont really think that ande_ka_funda is that odd a name.....
Just kidding, its extremely queer and at times has proven to be a major embarrassment!
I sometimes wonder why did I choose this name?? But all i find is the same blank space....
The origin of the name can be traced back to a fateful day when I decided to play counterstrike with one of my friends at a far flung gaming center.
I was new to the game and didnt (or perhaps didnt know how to ) change the game name of the last user who had played on my machine.
And as it turned out...the name was Mr. Ande_ka_funda. This I realised only when the other gamers started taunting me with this name for my lack of shooting skills ....and the less said about those expletives the better.
In short, the name cant be forgotten even after all these years....
And rather unfortunately, for God knows what reasons, I was in a great hurry to register on PG. Dont remember why...maybe some results were expected....
Didnt know much about the site and never expected to become a regular oer here.
So registered with the first name that came to my mind...and Viola... GMAT: 760 (Q 50, V 42) AWA 5.5 ........... [AH] 'Only dead fish go with the flow'- Viva Barca!!
