I never realized what went behind my username until recently at a pg meet someone asked me.. and I Was kinda at a loss of words then. Till date I never thought why on earth out of all things did I end up picking "diva" as my username..
that somehow was stalled there.. until I accidentialy came across this thread.. and there I start thinking. Y o Y this word appeal to me.. And I starting going through its history..
The term "diva" was originally used to describe a woman of rare, outstanding talent. It derives from the Italian word 'divina', meaning "divine" (feminine form), which, in turn, derives from the feminine form of the Latin word "divus/diva" meaning "goddess" or "fine lady".
Well, “diva” is also synonym for “prima donna.” And that term originally meant “a principal female singer in an opera or concert organization.”
Now to tell u.. I cant sing.. so tht completely puts me outta the diva league..
but then i came across another extended meaning ie “a usually glamorous and successful female performer or personality.” which did pull my spirits high.
Ok.. enough of etymology and dissection of the word..
What appealed to me about it was the magnificent grande aura around this word. I guess deep down in my heart I might be wanting to be called as a diva in all the arenas in my life..
