ppl me a cinema fan, actually get destressed by watching movies spend those 3 hours glued to the screen with absolutely no pain in my brains and love to fathom in to unreal ,where hero always wins in the end...huh!!!
might make a movie smtime if god is kind with me sometime,,but for now luck seems to run out of me every time i try to catch it.
i like to discuss about movies anyway..

Hello All. Namaste

Hope you don't mind a yank, American joining you. I am very much interested in producing films, shorts, skits, etc. - forming a fellowship of like minded people bringing their talents together and seeing what happens.

In the u.s., I was very active in support indie bands, artists and models - see http://www.warangel.typepad.com/photos/best/

the 'artists scene' i was a part of helped launch to national label bands in the U.S. - the juliana theory and zao. a google search will turn up lots of info on them if your curious.

would love to put together a group to launch a web site making short films and comic skits as well as in general network, support and learn from each other and have fun.

Hi guys

Me a movie buff too...and hope to write and direct a movie some day....

ideas to bahut aate hain....same as many other people on this thread ....keep track of your ideas guys.....keep writing ....keep thinking....

Real great initiative by vinuthahs247.....way to go d00d

One thing I don't like about Indian cinema is that there are not enough great movies being made....the movies which one would really like to watch....formula films can work if you know how to make the formula work....Manmohan Desai knew how to do that....

David Dhawan seemed to know initially (but not as good as Manmohan Desai...not even close infact) ..but now he is just flogging a dead horse....

But then movies like Rang De Basanti come along and WOw...man what a movie....its got great editing...great photography...even though many scenes have been touched up with effects...(the ones where they drive through a dark wooded area with just the car's headlights on..after the Paathshaala song)....but they have been done superbly....not in the gross Jaani Dushman kind of way...come to think of it...why did the director even think of making Jaani Dushman...wasn't he ashamed of himself...

whoa I am going off track here...yeah back to topic...Rang De Basanti...

Great movie ...great stuff...great university (Is that the Delhi University campus in the move?????? can anyone confirm??) ...and man what great characters....each one of them....Siddharth...whoa he's great....in each and every scene ...he is holding a cigarette in his hand....and just with the first line of dialogue ("Nautanki saala") ...his whole character is put into perspective.....Soha Ali Khan looks surprisingly gorgeous...i had previously seen Dil Maange More (I don't know why ) ...but she looked ...ordinary... in that..but here she looks beautiful....her wardrobe has been done up superbly....her make up and hair...all suit her character...
Aamir khan.....superb as always...and for the first time the star is not the focus of the movie....I mean he gets more scenes than others...but each character gets a fair and almost equal share of screen time.....also he doesn't have too much dialogue in the movie....But when he speaks about "university vich DJ di koi aukaat hai...." that is one hell of a scene....Kunal Kapoor rocks too.....Sharman Joshi ...he is really good, man....though he didn't get a lot to do in the movie....Atul Kulkarni as the misguided student leader is superb...Alice Patten the Brit babe too rocks....the supporting cast does a great job....what with stalwarts like Waheeda Rehman, Kirron and Anupam Kher and Mohan Agashe....

Oh and how could I forget Madhavan....he is in for a cameo just a few scenes but he shines through as an airforce pilot....

whew....out of breath...

so next post next time....gotta....get....waterrrrrr......paani ...paani...

he he...pj...sorry couldn't resist....

Re: Aspiring film directors meet here!! - 03-02-2006, 11:50 PM

yeah longshot... i guess liking gupta makes me a tarantino fan automatically. though i ha that vent seen much of tarantinos work..except kill bill.

but one thing id like to mention here.... i think i liked JAANI DUSHMAN. now i know saying that is pretty much blasphemous in our circles...u know the delhi and other metro croud..but so be it. i think the dude who made it did pretty gud for the average indian lower class junta who go to watch movies fr 15-20 bucks
what i mean is that maybe he didnt come up wid a great story and maybe the special effects were ordinary fr u and me who watch angrezzi movies wid fair regularity.. and mebbe most of em were direct lifts from hollywood...but so what. rikshaw wallas and dhaba workers hadnt seem matrix and terminator.. so they got to see what otherwise they wudnt. plus so many stars in one movie...absolute paisa-vasool bhai

i know i wont find supporters fr this theory of mine..but...then again... are we all not rebels in some way.

me 2 an aspiring director but hav got no clue to how to go abt it.
but i feel all indian films r crap n lousy.
even when indians try to remake a foreign film they end up makin a mockery of it. indian directors r showing thier lack of willingness to take risks n thier lack of creativity by makin more n more adaptations.
i totally dont like any movie that isn't original
also the audience r to be blamed for the industry becomin this dumb .
n the actors should for godsake stop claiming in interviews tht thier next movie is a different never b4 seen one as it is always deja vu

The mai-baap is Film and Television Institute of India... FTII (link : http://www.ftiindia.com)
Has all the courses you would need to learn to make phillum.. The entry.. is very difficult.. to say that, would be an understatement...

The Pune University has a very good course in Mass Communication...
The notification is out in April - May.. and then an entrance.. and then an interview... and then you are through It has few courses related to movies... (link : http://www.unipune.ernet.in/dept/dcs/index.htm)

Another good college for Mass Communication is Asian College of Journalism, Chennai (link : http://www.asianmedia.org).. One year course... yup as the name suggests its offers course in journalism.. apne interest ka Photo Journalism ho sakta hai
