This is a spam to suggest reduction in spam by spammers who are spamming the spam,and unless mods stop the spam ,the spammers will spam the spam forums.

having more Mods is a good idea.. infact we can have Sectional Mods and Watch Dogs/secret spies who report spam/bad posts...

Mods,we have given our suggestions.Some roots have been identified.Also in some other thread i have said that we need to put a bar of a number of minimum posts before one can post a thread.

thanks a ton d00d..u made me realize that the best way to surf PG these days is to put dorkheads like you in the ignore lists. thanks to ur efforts, this thread has become just another parody of the sad situation in general, at present in PG.com .

when this dolt started his posting spree, i sent him a pm asking him to go for 50 posts in one day...i have sent similar pm's to other ppl in the same vein. a few like sandman_sd realized its true intention..others chose to ignore it and continued their spam efforts. the case with him seems to be the latter. sad.

letme explain the whole spam thingy a bit more. if, PG.com were to be spammed by posters of the caliber of j0, i would have no issues reading their posts. infact, j0 is more of an aberration than a general rule in a forum that boasts of some (all ??) of the brightest brains in the country (aptitude tests-wise).

take the latest discussion in this thread ..the <name edited> n the nut. their combined efforts have made it possible that the thread has lost its purpose/intention. perhaps u guys have misread the title..it is how to reduce spam..and not how to spam. a bit of a case of 'lost in translation', perhaps.

i really wish that anil would come back to modding full-time. sure, the guy is a vat of (concentrated) sulphuric acid..i accept that but after seeing the results before and after his modding has made me think that mebbe we do need ppl who are not afraid of trampling over others. a rude remark or two, here nd there, would not lead anybody to stop visiting..but yeah, they would be wary of posting next time.

i dont think that genuine posters can be put off by such replies..i remember when hanoz (now in IIM A) started posting, he started a thread on "CAT maharaja for females" or something in chit-chat. poor chap was blasted middle, right and centre by some ppl..incld. anil and me. but..he still posts, hasnt gone away by the rude handling.

somebody has to fill in anil's shoes..mod squad..r u listening

they solved the purpose...used to mean a lot...

Anil was a nightmare for spammers....we seriously miss him

Get Anil back and spams will reduce....though not to forget he used to SPAM like hell during initial days...dats how he reached to 4k+ mark..but then oine needs to understand thaty those days were different.,...very few posters...and probably very few spammers..

today there r hell lotta spammers.....and thats wat is creating trouble..

SELF DISCIPLINE is must...thoda masti ke liye udhar udhar post kiya no probs...but also start helping n00bs and MODS to organise things in a better manner...

This forum has given a lot to us...its out duty to try give something back..

the worst part about what is happening at PG is that the people who've been really active in the past and are known to have posts of high quality are hardly seen on the forum anymore.

I will obv not name names , but i still keep in touch with a lot of PG junta thru Y! and it seems everyone can see it happening but feels helpless about it because in the end it is a public forum and unless the junta takes it upon themselves to not post BS( viz. highly unlikely) the sad state of affairs will continue.

This is not something that is unique to PG.com but is quite natural for any forum that becomes popular.A friend of mine who's a mod at rsjonline said the same kind of thing happened with a popular rock forum (gigpad) and they cud do lil abt it .

Anyways i am all for Anil coming back but i doubt that he'll have the time anymore to do the kind of heavy-duty modding he used to do earlier.

anyways, here is to hoping that a solution will be found soon

well an idea popped up in my mind too..........y not display the spammers list or spammers hall of shame clearly on the forum......i ges it will be a deterrent fr present n future spammers.......n this list cud b revised on a weekly or a monthly basis......n y not hav a mod only to check spamming........



while writing this another idea floated in my mind.......like putting sum chepoo icon(rotten egg or sumthin') alongside the spammer's name....that way whenever he/she posts, every1 will know that the spammer has entered th forum.......'
