A lot of the oldie-goldies seem to have been taken out of access. If this has been notified before, then please consider this a friendly reminder! . Being a newbie and now spending most of my waking time on PG, I really would like to read up the old articles (in some of the links)!

Reg PG interviews -
Just wanted to say that I find the quality of questions asked to be very relevant. Best part is that the responses of the interviewee are seemingly being presented with full text. I am able to draw out my own conclusions this way ....
Keep it up team.

This is to the moderator of Solidgyan - DI question a day. I am not getting the DI questions daily. As there is irregularity in the mails. As, I got my last mail on friday 3rd Aug and didn't get any mail till date. And Moreover, the questions which I used to get were of the previous day. As, when I visited the links for discussion, the 'puys' were discussing a different question(the next question). Please look into the matter..

haahaa can you see the rating on my profile?
I have given five stars for my profile
Now I know many credential members don t have a ratings at all!
They dont get a rating from other members since I think very few among us bother about giving somebody rating points etc...
But if you see my profile I dont even crossed twenty posts mark & I've five stars in my profile.. I dont think if anybody on the forum even recognise me... then guess from whom I got this five stars???
Hahahaaa I gave it to myself...
Now dont you think its a flaw in the code?
(it's worse than saying thank you to your own post ) - No. of persons watching you is directly proportional to the stupidity of your action.

Dear Alwin n team, I was pretty busy with my work and hence could not catch up with the sudden firing of 2 very versatile (if not good as per mods ) posters, and now I feel even on charges of raising dead ghosts I must put few things in your notice. I found this reply(given below) right from your head quarter pretty informative to understand (and read between lines ) the whole issue:- Quote: |

The stats say, between 3000-6000 people register on PG every month and more than 90 pc of them are between the age group 19 and 22 years. That's not quite the mature people we're assuming there are. Mike's argument is okay for a forum where all the people are grown up enough to see through abuses, not here.
The oldies? Yes, over time they've kinda come to be comfy with each other's posting styles and can see through the tone and at what matters - the content. But their active number is less than 30.
What is the fallout of this? The volume of posts done in Chit-Chat (outside the birthday threads, PG meet threads and a couple more) is largely hogged by 3-5 users. Until last year, a look at the Chit-Chat section page showed threads updated on a single day running over to half of the 2nd page. Now, it barely crosses 2/3rds of the first page. It's not because we don't have traffic... our monthly registrations have nearly doubled this year. | Well the problem identified and mentioned no doubt is damn accurate, and any member active for last 2 years will vouch for it, but are you really sure about the explanation given by you (below)? I think it has much to do with lacklustre on part of few in planning and handling the traffic than anything about kinda posts or on top of it the language used in them Just walk through PG threads as a CAT Aspirant and you'll find so many threads scattered all across the places framing a case of over-informing users and thus confusing many of your beloved newbies. And otherwise too, one is supposed to atleast view (if not read) posts to make some opinion, which can easily be assessed by no. of people viewing different threads these days So I hope we'll stop further buck passing and come up with plan of presenting information/knowledge bank in a more meticulous manner. Just tell me why we need a separate thread of each mock( I mean "each" even when they all belong to SAME INSTI ). So the case is simple, we are loosing in the activity if not no. of new joinees because of managerial issue and somehow not setting our forthcoming goals clearly rather than this explanation given by you Quote: |

What you think, those 2 lacs (BTW I have reservations on this no. as the largest no. of users logged on for last 2 years have been only on the CAT result days and that too is on downturn now) users come only 2 take admissions support/information? that's all? Don't you think you are simply omitting puys already in their coveted institutes but logging on regularly because they simply love the atmosphere here. Are newbiees in turn must spend some time and get used to things before we setting some "IDEAL" platform for them ourselves? .....and I object to your definition of "primary purpose" too your honour Quote: |

But if Chit-Chat becomes inaccessible to them on account of the posting styles of a few people, either these people have to change their style and be friendly, or we'll have to let these few people go. You'll agree that the point of the community on PG is not to be self-serving, but to cater to a much larger audience. It's always the active posters who define how a forum is perceived by newbies. We're not out to give out the forum as a place where the most active people are an unfriendly, abusive and sarcastic bunch. In that sense, yes, we do have an agenda here and it's pretty clear. I see people writing here that the Mods have an agenda or are yearning to put forward a point. Well, it's not like we're hiding it... we're saying it pretty much in-the-face that the agenda is to make PG a friendlier place to post on. We've given a lot of people a lot of benefit of doubt on the abusive language/personal attack front, but it'll be tough from now on. | Quote: |

Certainly not put people off by snapping at them in the name of logic, objectivity and what not. But if this behaviour doesn't end, there isn't much choice left, is there?
As for Plumber, he needs a break from this forum. Maybe one day he'll see the larger picture and learn to make a point without using language he wouldn't use at home.
There's always the argument of 'it happens in other threads too so why only here'. The attempt is that it doesn't happen from now on. What's happened until now cannot be undone. As for your point about the football thread, I had already put in a no-abuse reminder there before you made this post .
Apurv | Hmm so this brings us openly too the dirty issue of ownership ...Yes true as private owners you do have a right to award membership discriminately but then my friend this is not how PG has reached its present state. Many have contributed, so let's not set agendas without considering them now ..............And let's revisit the whole episode in a more democratic manner:- 1. Yes there's no denial of some posts (manner/words) made by those we are discussing here which could certainly been avoided but then can we deny their enormous contribution to our knowledge, debates and acumen?? Please understand the age old philosophy of nothing available for free and thus if talent (knowledge) comes along with a fraction of arrogance then?? And mind you my friend according to you yourself you have very less proactive members remaining on PG, then how can you simply subtract the best (ofcourse arguably) of them like this . 2. This brings us too the larger issue of banning itself, let's work under some guidelines if not rules. Banning is parallel to assassinating as the member cease to exist (atleast with same PG nick ), now do you think your tyrant manners of handing bans to seasoned members are on right paths? 3. A close scrutiny of the same closed thread will reveal you to understand than you failed to get acknowledgement from even a single member for your acts there almost all of them belonging to your elite club of 30 odd members still active on regular basis. I wonder what can still keep you so comfortable? 4. So to set the things on correct path I'll strongly request you to revoke that ban and transfer it too only a constraint membership, which will allow those users to post nowhere but only on one thread...........the thread of their "trial" ....let's carry on a public debate with our 2 most "famous" (if not anything else) members , on an all exclusive thread to clear air and fear of posting freely from your regular posters be it at the cost of few stochastic newbies Btw I have deliberately chosen the thread which I know can't be closed and used words to save you from the requirement of snipping anything ....but for anything else I will request you to be kind and bring back in my notice as banning me will cause that reregistration ordeal and am very poor at creating new names too ....ya banning IP can be thought off but then would it be fine with you shutting doors for some 500 prospective members (I wonder if soon they are to be called customers ), as am using the sole public system of this MNC With lot of regards Andy

A question to the Mods. Previously, in every person's post, on their profile summary on the left side, I could see the number of posts for which they were thanked at/groaned. However, I cannot see this anymore. Is it some setting that I have enabled or have the mods disabled this altogether?
If its the latter, I suggest you re-enable it. As someone pointed out, the rating mater is a bit shady and I do not think its used much anyway. That was a perfect indicator on the reliability of a person's post. - de profundis - de profundis __________________________________________________ __ I still miss my ex-girlfriend.
